IED is clearly defined in the manual of mental disorders (DSM-IV) but no-one really knows how many people might be affected by the disorder.
To be diagnosed with IED, an individual must have had three episodes of impulsive aggressiveness which are grossly out of proportion to the situation, such as that seen in cases of road rage or domestic violence.
IED tends to first manifest itself during adolescence, with the average age of the first episode found to be 14 years of age.

These IEDs are aimed at the softer sides of unprotected vehicles and armored vehicles, and can be effective even from a distance of several meters.
Since IED charges have low penetration efficiency, one of the most important add-on protections are the ballistic liners, made of composite materials.

An improvised explosive device (IED) is a formal name for explosive devices as often used in unconventional warfare or asymmetrical warfare by terrorists, guerrillas or commando forces in a theater of operations.
An IED is a bomb fabricated in an improvised manner incorporating destructive, lethal, noxious, pyrotechnic, or incendiary chemicals and designed to destroy or incapacitate personnel or vehicles.
IEDs made by inexperienced designers or with substandard materials may fail to detonate, and in some cases actually detonate on either the maker or the emplacer of the device (these unintended early detonations are known as "pre-detonations").

Performing the calculations within IED is the easiest option, but the matrix diagonalization step is significantly slower than with GROMACS or ptraj, there is less flexibility in how the calculation is performed and the results cannot be easily saved.
As such, ED calculations within IED may be most useful for small systems that can be calculated quickly, for trajectory formats that cannot be read by ptraj or GROMACS, or for one-off calculations where installation of additional software is undesirable.

This means IEDs are primarily used by former Iraqi Army personnel, presumably ex-Baathists who have access to the many hidden stockpiles of ammunition Saddam dispersed in anticipation of a guerrilla war against US forces.
