  iEatBrainz Review - iEatBrainz Download
iEatBrainz takes songs that you've chosen in your iTunes Library, that have incorrect or missing information for Title, Artist or Album, and then uses the sound of each song to match it with the correct information maintained in the MusicBrainz Database.
iEatBrainz is a program that takes music from your iTunes library, analyzes the sound of the tracks you tell it to, and then uses that information to match it with entries in the MusicBrainz database.
However, that is actually a drop down menu, which, if it has several matches that are quite close, will contain all those matches, so even if the entry it chose is not the right one, you can still pick out the right one from the list.

iEatBrainz is an acoustic tagging system that works with iTunes to help you clean up your music tags.
That means that it analyzes the audiofile and compares the shape of the recorded soundwaves to a large database of known music.
Luckily, iEatBrainz is as easy to use as it is helpful.

something or another… » iEatBrainz   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-18)
iEatBrainz is an external application that lets you select songs from your library and or particular playlists, and once selected, it analyzes your music and generates a fingerprint of the tune.
This is mostly just a nuisance in iEatBrainz, because you then have to individually select all of the failed fingerprint matches (highlighted in the screenshot), and tell iEatBrainz to try it’s hand at matching up the fingerprints.
If iEatBrainz ever hangs (as it often does after you’ve updated itunes with the matching information), you not only have to kill it, but you have to kill all of your settings too so it does not hang when you start it again.

MP3 Rage came to the rescue with both detecting the thankfully small amount of files that were seriously corrupted and renaming those that still had ID3 tags.
Finally I thought I was left with approx 2000 - un-named files, enter ieatbrainz - a tool which sits between itunes and the musicbrainz audio fingerprint database.
Some music files were split into two by the recovery tool, this is very hard to identify unless you can hear the files are related.

IEatBrainz - MusicBrainz Wiki   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-18)
iEatBrainz is an alternative to the MusicBrainzTagger developed by Jay Tuley for MacOS X users who use iTunes to manage their audio files.
If you don't use iTunes, you may prefer to try the PicardTagger, which has some advanced features that iEatBrainz does not (however, the MacOS X support may not be complete, so it may be less stable).
If you use iTunes, iEatBrainz is probably a better choice, since any application that changes the tags on files directly may confuse iTunes, which keeps its own cache of that information.

ieatbrainz - will automatically get the tags from the musicbrainz database, but is fairly buggy, and there is no customization options for what tags i want to get or how i want the files to be named afterwords.
further, the files need to be in the itunes library to be selectable in ieatbrainz.
I use the scripts from dougsapplescripts, first one, finds the album in CDDB data base based on artist name (or album or both if just need track numbers), next CDDB to iTunes (writes data from cdbb to itunes tracks), then rename to artist-album (year) Track#-songname...all with Hot Keys.

iEatBrainz only has a applescript dictionary because it’s an Apple Script Studio app with a lot of Obj-C and just a small bit of applescript.
So right now I’m tracking a bug in iEatBrainz in which the library xml file it’s reading and the actually library when talking through applescript aren’t matching, even when the application waits long enough for iTunes to synch out another update.

iEatBrainz is a similar freeware application for MP3/AAC tagging.
It is not as verbose as MPFreaker in some aspects, but it does seem to match some song files which MPFreaker couldn’t.
iEatBrainz “uses MusicBrainz to fix your MP3 and AAC tags in iTunes after they’ve been ripped using acoustic matchings.” It isn’t perfect, but it definetly is a good start.

The UNIX command line tagging tools can be compiled and used under Mac OS X but I highly recommend using iEatBrainz for generating the acoustic fingerprints to submit to Musicbrainz.
iEatBrainz may still be a work-in-progress but the latest release has been working great for me; much nicer than trying to have AppleScript run the command line tools.

Jay's Stuff has released iEatBrainz v1.01, a Mac OS X v10.3+ application that does an acoustic comparison of the audio content of user-selected songs with data in the MusicBrainz database in order to automatically fill-in missing Artist, Title, and Album information in your music collection.
The user is given an opportunity to verify the information before it is written locally.
Added a final -just to be safe- song check before updating iTunes for each track to determine whether iTunes changed it's database numbers (as iTunes does this every once in awhile, but iEatBrainz resyncs).

The poor quality of the CDDB database is a separate issue, one that MusicBrainz doesn’t obviously solve.
iEatBrainz is a beta Mac client for the MusicBrainz database, and if the results it produces are representative of the fingerprinting technology and current database, it’s not worth my time right now.
For a simple test, I fed it a 97-song playlist out of my iTunes library, consisting of tracks ripped to MP3 and AAC from my CD collection over the past few years.

Some way to refresh that (manually or automagically) Yes at the last minute, i realized this, and put in a quick fix to update the database when iTunes updates it's xml file from an iEatBrainz change, however this ends up being about a minute later.
I have an update method on my iTunes Library class, but I'm alittle afraid to call it often while the program is running without a little re-factoring of the music matchings class.
I noticed that was a new feature of MB, I haven't had time to look at this though, but from the stand point of adding album art to mp3 or aac file it should be fairly straight forward to do this the way the iEatBrainz integrates with iTunes currently.

iEatBrainz eliminates this problem by querying a master database for information on these mysterious MP3 files.
It does this by comparing various things such as song length and acoustic signature [whatever the hell that means].
When selecting songs, a brushed-metal sheet comes out from the iEatBrainz main window that looks exactly like the playlist and songlist part of iTunes.

macosxhints.com - A Perl script to find duplicate iTunes tracks
Basically what it does is look in your library for songs which don't have fully fleshed out sets of tags, or lets you pick out songs that you know don't have the right or full info associated with them.
The one thing that I think is really unfortunate about this is, due to the way iEatBrainz accesses (*and updates) the information about each track, it's through iTunes.
So if there isn't a mechanism in place in iTunes for iEatBrainz to say, 'store this bit of info in this ID3v2.4 field', then your songs will get cleaned up, but the uuid's aren't getting saved along with the file.
