British II Corps - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Under Fortitude North II Corps was supposedly to attack Stavanger, with the 3rd (later the 58th) Division and supporting commandos and paratroops seizing the airfields, the 55th Division joining as followup; the genuine U.S. XV Corps from Northern Ireland would augment the force, which would advance on Oslo.
The corps was transferred to First U.S. Army Group ("FUSAG") in early June 1944 and moved to Lincolnshire; restored to Fourth Army when that formation joined FUSAG for Fortitude South II, headquarters now at Tunbridge Wells in Kent, with under command the British 55th and 58th Divisions and the British 35th Armoured Brigade.
Following the British withdrawal from Egypt, II Corps was also the controlling force for the invasion of the country during the Suez Crisis.

While World War II continues to absorb the interest of military scholars and historians, as well as its veterans, a generation of Americans has grown to maturity largely unaware of the political, social, and military implications of a war that, more than any other, united us as a people with a common purpose.
World War II was waged on land, on sea, and in the air over several diverse theaters of operation for approximately six years.
The Women's Army Corps was successful because its mission, to aid the United States in time of war, was part of a larger national effort that required selfless sacrifice from all Americans.

 Welcome to Drum Corps World
Corps who score exceptionally well at the Drum Corps International Division II/III Finals this year in Madison, WI will not advance to Division I Quarterfinals or Semifinals unless they declare their intent to compete in division I in 2003.
Essentially, DCI has been giving the Mandarins and other corps a break since 1997 by ignoring the line in the Quarterfinalist Policy that states the corps didn't have the option to compete in division II once the corps placed in the top 21 overall.
One idea is to develop a new classification that would allow a corps like the Spartans or Capital Regiment to declare for division I, compete at quarterfinals and semifinals and even DCI Finals, but then travel on a shorter tour than full-fledged division I corps.
