	IIM news update
		The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), established by the Government of India, are the ace business schools in the country whose passouts have proved their mettle at Harvard, LSE and Kellogg.
		IIM Shillong will be the seventh IIM in the country with the other six IIMs situated in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore and Kozhikode respectively.
		According to Dr Samuel Paul, the leader of the core group of management institutions and former director of IIM Ahemdabad the interim report submitted to the Moily Oversight Committee the core group has recommended a hike of 1,010 seats in seven institutions, which is a 60 per cent expansion.

		The Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) on Sunday raised its annual fee for the two-year post-graduate programme from Rs 1.58 lakh to Rs 1.77 lakh.
		The announcement on the 12 per cent fees increase came after the board of governors of the premier institution met in Ahmedabad under the chairmanship Infosys mentor NR Narayanamurthy and approved the measure.
		Last year, the average salary of the students passing out of IIM-A was Rs 7.5 lakh and this it went up to Rs ten lakh, he pointed out.

	IIM-A rejects HRD ministry grant
		On Saturday, following the annual meeting of the board of governors of IIM, Ahmedabad, the institute decided to reject the grant of Rs 10 crore (Rs 100 million) from the ministry.
		At Saturday's meeting, the IIM, Ahmedabad board of governors decided that the institute would neither ask for the money nor would it accept the grant, even if it came.

		Ahmedabad, Dec. 25: If the Centre keeps sitting on the IIMs’ demand for financial autonomy, the B-schools’ faculty shortage could worsen, a senior Indian Institute of Management official argued today.
		The official, who wouldn’t be quoted, said several IIM Ahmedabad teachers had received job offers from private institutes at salaries three to four times higher.
		About two years ago, the IIM directors had sent a proposal to the Centre for hiking salaries which, according to IIM Ahmedabad chairman N.R. Narayana Murthy, are “very low”.
