Cleveland, OH US Researchers and engineers involved in aluminum structural design are cordially invited to attend the 9th International Conference on Aluminum Connections (INALCO 2004) to be held June 2-4, 2004 at Lincoln Electric Company in Cleveland, Ohio.
INALCO, begun in 1981 and held every three years, alternates between Japan, North America.
INALCO 2004 is sponsored by the Lincoln Electric Company, the Aluminum Association, and Univ. Prof.

 Maltese language to be taught in France [MaltaMedia.com]
The Paris-based ‘Institut National des Langues et Civilisations’ (INALCO) announced that it will be offering, as from February 2005, a 50-hour curriculum unit on the Maltese language through the efforts of Ambassador of Malta in France Prof Salvino Busuttil.
Maltese linguist Elgar-Paul Magro has been entrusted by INALCO with the course, while it is envisaged that visiting Maltese lecturers also participate therein, within the European Union’s ERASMUS programme.
INALCO is an official scientific and cultural institution operating within the framework of the Ministry of Youth, National Education and Research, whose mission is to teach the language, history, geography and culture of countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Asia and Oceania, Africa and the Americas.

The INALCO, national institute of oeiental languages and civilizations, commonly known as "Langues O" and important scientific and cultural establishment for research and teching in 88 languages from Asia, Africa and Oceania, will relocate to an area between, Rue du Chevaleret and Rue Cantragel.
Nowadays, two thirds of INALCO's students follow a second university syllabus, in addiotion to their studies of oriental languages, which facilitates their insertion in the professional world.

 The Amazigh Voice, June 1995
Salem Chaker, Professor of Amazigh linguistics at the INALCO, Paris, gave a lecture on Amazigh (Berber) language and political identity in Algeria at MIT on April 25th, 1995.
The lecture was sponsored by ACAA in collaboration with MIT and attended by ACAA members, members of the Algerian community in Boston, and professors and researchers in Anthropology (Barbara Worley), Ethnomusicology (Jane Goodman), and Berber Weaving (Rosie Colar).
He is presently a professor of Tamazight at the INALCO and the head of the "Centre de Recherche Berbere." Previously, he was a faculty member at the Centre National de Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in Aix-En-Provence from 1981 till 1989 and at the University of Algiers from 1973 till 1981.

He is head of the research team Monde Iranien at CNRS, Paris III, INaLCO, and EPHE as well as head of post-graduate Iranian studies at INaLCO and Paris III.
His current research focuses on the changes in society, politics, and geography in relation to the development of cities and urban culture in Iran, the Middle East, and Central Asia.

17, 2003 For the first time since its creation more than two centuries ago, a Paris-based institute of higher learning, Inalco, has included a native South African language -- Zulu -- in its curriculum.
Zulu courses at the institute began on Monday and already 25 students, mainly from Inalco's African Languages Department, had registered for the course, the French Embassy in Pretoria told Sapa.
The embassy said that in response to a request by Inalco, it made available a scholarship that enabled a French-speaking Zulu student, Sthokozile Mhlanga, to give Zulu classes in Paris from Monday onwards.

Finally, research on language learning and language use has become more multidisciplinary than the original SLA research.
This colloquium is part of an on-going international research collaboration between the Berkeley Language Center and the French National Institute for Oriental Languages and Cultures (INALCO), that explores multilingualism and multiculturalism in language teaching.
The colloquium brings together junior and senior researchers as well as language practitioners from Canada, Europe and the U.S who come from various disciplines: psycho- and sociolinguistics, anthropology, educational linguistics.

For next year's meeting it was suggested that the workshop could take place in Paris (INALCO).
Monique Slodzian the Head of CRIM (Centre de Recherche en Ingenierie en Multilingue) is quite enthusiastic about it, so she contacted the President of INALCO who thought it was a very interesting proposal.
