iPhoto is smart enough to figure out that those 50 photos from last Tuesday likely came at a single event.
Use iPhoto themes to bring photos to life in colorful layouts, with borders, textured mattes, and text.
Now iPhoto gives you even more ways to dazzle friends, family, and yourself with professionally printed memorabilia — from a new hardcover photo book complete with dust jacket and foil-printed cover to a larger 10.4-by-13-inch calendar.

Click on it, and iPhoto’s interface—along with your desktop and any other windows—will completely disappear, replaced by a solid fl field in which your image will be displayed as large as possible.
For years, iPhoto has allowed users to share their photo libraries with other iPhoto users on the same local area network.
The Photocast will appear in their iPhoto library, just as albums do, and subscribers will be free to view or copy all of the images in it, just as they can any other image in their library.

 MacDevCenter.com -- Cleaning iPhoto
However, iPhoto retains their original file name, without the extension, for the title, which is the text I see with the photo when I select "View Title" from iPhoto's View menu.
iPhoto 4 made a lot of improvements, but it is still slow enough that I manage it with a lot of batch processing through either AppleScript or an equivalent Perl script.
Also, I am still using iPhoto 2, so it is a little disheartening to learn that my copy of iPhoto 4, which I have not loaded yet, may not increase the speed of iPhoto.

Joe’s iPhoto AppleScripts for Date Manipulation
It includes a special workaround for the weird way iPhoto renames movies when their dates are changed.
Early versions of iPhoto 5 had a bizarre quirk when changing the dates of a movie; the movie's original file's name is incremented whenever the date is changed.
The only reason I mention this is because iPhoto would occasionally lose the connection to the original source movie causing it to fail to open.

oreilly.com -- Online Catalog: iPhoto 6: The Missing Manual
If you used iPhoto when it first came out, you'll remember the way it slowed to a crawl once you loaded it with about 2,000 photos.
Compare that to this year's model: iPhoto 6 can handle as many as 250,000 images and still have the power to run a host of suped-up features.
This is great for relative newcomers to iPhoto, but some chapters will seem like a re-hash of the basics to an iPhoto veteran.
