Apple Computer iPod nano (Second-Generation) 2/4/8GB | iLounge iPod Accessory Reviews
The second-generation iPod nano now sits iconically in front of a white background, surrounded by a clear shield; a sticker on each box top is opened to allow you to pierce the shield and remove the iPod inside.
Essentially, the second-generation iPod nano's body is a shrunken iPod mini with a color screen, with dimensions (3.5" by 1.6" by 0.26") that are identical to the prior nano, but thinner by 0.01", and at 1.41 ounces, it's lighter than the prior nano by 0.09 ounces.
Overall, the second-generation iPod nano's body is decidedly superior to the one it replaces, answering basically all the requests that iPod fans (and detractors) have lodged since the iPod mini was discontinued last year.

Since being introduced almost four weeks ago the iPod nano has taken the MP3 market by storm, earning accolades from reviewers and industry analysts alike, but not everyone is completely satisfied.
iPod nano owner Matthew Peterson setup his Web site, flawedmusicplayer.com (formerly ipodnanoflaw.com), to share his grievances about his broken iPod nano screen.
Apple said that the screens on the iPod nano are made with the same material that is found in the company’s fourth-generation iPod, which, to date, is complaint free.

  Review
The iPod nano is the hot new digital music player from Apple that lets music lovers carry up to 1,000 songs to listen to on the move - and it’s tiny.
I compared the sound output against an iPod shuffle and an iPod photo, and believe the nano to have the clearest sound, while the others are “crunchier:, a little louder with a slightly better bass depth.
All things considered the iPod nano is a beautifully-designed device that does its job very well, despite my reservations concerning bass sound and white headphones.

Apple iPod Nano (4GB, white) Reviews. MP3 players Reviews by CNET.
Unlike the bigger iPod, the iPod Nano has a thin layer of glossy acrylic on its face, much like the original iPod and the company's line of iBooks; thus, it's very susceptible to scratches and, for the fl version, fingerprints.
While scratches are typical for all iPods, the Nano's softer polycarbonate is especially fragile, so you'll need to get a case or a tattoolike skin; alternately, you shouldn't carry it in a pocket full of keys or change.
In terms of features, the Apple iPod Nano is the miniature version of the current iPod, also known as the iPod Photo.

Yet another of the aspects of the nano that are of the shrunken variety is the click-wheel, with a middle button roughly the same size as that of the iPod mini, but with the wheel itself of significantly lesser diameter.
The First Generation iPod, considered to be fairly small at the time of its 2001 launch, is comparatively large enough to house the entire nano family inside of it.

On the downside, one feature that I believe Apple has sneaked out of both the new iPod Nano and iPod Classic is the ability to use the headphone jack as a composite video output jack, allowing for photos and videos to be played to your television set without the aid of a third-party interface.

Apple's discussion forums are already host to a 188-post thread on the topic, where people have spotted that the plastic used for the screen and front of the product is as sensitive as a Kate Moss sponsor.
In the meantime, any Nano buyers are warned to leave the sticky plastic over the screen, if they want to keep seeing what's on it.
