Provisional Irish Republican Army - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although the Provisional IRA had a political wing (Provisional Sinn Féin, which split with Official Sinn Féin at the same time as the split in the IRA), the early Provisional IRA was extremely suspicious of political activity, arguing rather for the primacy of armed struggle.
At a regional level, the IRA is divided into a Northern Command, which operates in the area of Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic, and a Southern Command, which operates in the rest of Ireland.
The IRA had an official policy of bombing only targets in England (not the Celtic countries of Scotland and Wales), although they detonated a bomb at an oil terminal in the Shetland Isles in 1981 while Queen Elizabeth II was performing the official opening of the terminal.

Irish Republican Army - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
While the anti-Treaty IRA continued to exist after its defeat in the Irish Civil War, by the late 1930s it had lost most of the legitimacy with which most supporters of the Republican side initially regarded it.
They argued that the IRA's allegiance was to the Dáil of the Irish Republic and the decision of the Dáil to accept the Treaty meant that the IRA no longer owed that body its allegiance.
Amateur historian Dorothy Macardle claims that the banning of the convention arose because "Mulcahy realised that 70 to 80 per cent of the IRA was against the Treaty and he feared that the Convention could have been used to establish a military dictatorship".

 FAQs regarding IRAs
The required minimum distribution for each year is calculated by dividing your IRA account balance as of December 31 of the prior year by the applicable distribution period or life expectancy.  You can determine your applicable distribution period or life expectancy by using the Tables in Appendix C of Publication 590.
IRAs do not permit loans. Therefore, repaying a loan balance from one plan by transferring the loan balance and making loan payments to your IRA is not allowed. If you attempted this transaction, the loan would be treated as a distribution at the time of the attempted rollover.
Finally, IRA trustees are permitted to impose additional restrictions on investments. For example, because of administrative burdens, many IRA trustees do not permit IRA owners to invest IRA funds in real estate. IRA law does not prohibit investing in real estate but trustees are not required to offer real estate as an option.
