With the ending of the coup in 1994, FRB founder Stephen Dunifer went to Haiti twice to begin laying the groundwork for aiding the expansion and growth of community, grassroots radio stations.
Travelling from one end of Haiti to the other, the team assisted in putting 5 radio stations on the air during the course of their 3 week stay.
A number of radio stations have taken to the air in Mexico City as a result of training and equipment supplied by FRB.

I encountered the apparently common problem that the native SWT library couldn't be found and used Google to find the unpleasant workaround of placing it in the JDK's libraries directory.
Robin was previously able to get it to work right when he built the SWT iRATE as an OS X ".app" bundle, a small directory heirarchy that the Finder presents to the user as a double-clickable application program.

The truth of it is, I just use a few check points to choose a rating, not some absolute numerical value, and I just don't use the same check list between the lists.
iRate radio is a system that chooses music for you, based on your rating of everything it gave you before, and the ratings of other people whose taste in music appears to have a correlation to yours.
As there's no reason to keep stuff I don't like, there wouldn't be much there to rate 1 or 2 stars as in iRate.

It is called 'iRATE Radio'; it is a kind of mp3 scraping program that downloads mp3's continuously onto your hard drive and plays them for you like a radio station.
The program is still a work in progress; its file manager and configuration options are rudimentary at best, the player doesn't even have a time counter, and there are bugs to work out.
But the radio application does one thing extremely well: it maintains a steady flow of LEGAL mp3's and exposes the user to hundreds (if not thousands) of songs that one would never hear about in Rolling Stone or on MTV or Amazon.com.

I've been trying iRate radio software after I read about it.
I whish the developer add access to some mac os X dev tools, because with it they could polish iRate's users interface and make it more OS X like (the way limewire does it).

(The author of iRATE is careful to register only legal downloads.) After you listen to and rate the tracks, your ratings are sent back to the server where it uses statistical analysis to correllate your ratings with the ratings given by other users.
One nice thing about iRATE is that you can set it to download continuously while playing, so you always have fresh music without having to go hunt for it.
iRATE radio is a young project which welcomes contributions from java developers.
