		IRC itself is a teleconferencing system, which (through the use of the client-server model) is well-suited to running on many machines in a distributed fashion.
		If the IRC network becomes disjoint because of a split between two servers, the channel on each side is only composed of those clients which are connected to servers on the respective sides of the split, possibly ceasing to exist on one side of the split.
		Due to the IRC network only being able to exist as an acyclic graph, it may be possible that the network has already reconnected in another location, the place where the collision occurs indicating where the net needs to split.

		I really hope the developer gets around to fixing the dcc issues and makes a few tweaks so notices and whois info can appear in the active window rather than the server window.
		I had been using XChat-Aqua for a long time and to it's credit, it's an excellent, feature rich client, however it is quite slow, can be quite buggy and tends to lag quite a way behind the official XChat releases at times.
		Overall Mice iRC is solid and feature rich and I don't hesitate to recommend it.
