Abdollah Naseri, the General Manager of the official news agency IRNA, was summoned Monday by the leader-controlled Judiciary, in connection with the publication of an opinion poll showing that most Iranians reject the anti-American policy of Ayatollah Ali Khameneh'i.
The not surprising results, interpreted by Iranian political analysts as a "slap" for the leader, were released by IRNA on 22 September, triggering wide-spread condemnation from the conservative circles, claiming, without providing any convincing document, that the poll was both "fabricated" and "manipulated" by the regime’s enemies.
The pro-government IRNA said that Naseri had been summoned by Judge Sa’id Mortezavi, dubbed "the Butcher of the press" on a complaint filed by the State Prosecutor, in this case the Head of the Justice Department of the Capital, Tehran.
