 Re: Standardization (Henrik =?iso-8859-1?Q?M=F8ller?= )
Dear Christian Loudness has been defined for years by ISO in ISO 31-7, ISO 226 and ISO 532.
And I think ISO 31 is going to be replaced by ISO 8000, which might have something, too.
I am not sure if some of the other terms might be in ISO 31-7 - I know they are not in the two others.

 Cochlear vs. psychoacoustic models
The resulting model was able to predict common experiments well: 1 kHz masking patterns at various levels, uniformly exciting noise, impaired frequency selectivity, loudness growth for normal hearing and hearing loss, and equal loudness contours (ISO 226).
The classic psychoacoustic model is the Zwicker school, however the procedure for deriving excitation patterns with upward spread of masking is complicated and graphical (ISO532B), and there is no direct information on the filter shape, let alone useful information on how to model a hearing loss.
There are newer models that can simulate a certain percentage of inner- and outer-haircell loss along the basilar membrane, but how does one estimate this from a regular audiogram.

Global Road Safety Partnership-Safer roads>Road signing
International technical standards, in particular ISO Standards for signing and symbols and the recent CEN Standards for Vertical Signing and horizontal marking done by working group TC 226, can be used as legal reference all over the globe.
In fact, the UN Conventions prescribes the dipped beam as the minimum requirement when a vehicle is in movement at night – even on lit streets – and in bad weather conditions.
The first international Agreement dates back to 1909 (the first international Convention leading to today’s UN “Vienna” Conventions and Agreements in force all over the world) In these Conventions and Agreements, the colours prescribed for road signing take into consideration the basic scientific notions of contrast.
