ITV plc is a British media company which operates the oldest and largest commercial terrestrial television network in the United Kingdom.
ITV plc was formed by the merger of Carlton Communications and Granada plc and began trading on 2 February 2004.
ITV plc is divided into three divisions: Broadcast, which operates the TV networks, News, which runs the ITV regional franchises, and Granada which is the network production division.

ITV PLC, Britain's largest commercial broadcaster, on Tuesday rejected an $8.9 billion takeover offer from cable operator NTL Inc., saying the proposed combination made little strategic sense and undervalued the business.
But pay-TV company British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC threw a wrench into NTL's plans to acquire ITV by buying a 17.9 percent stake in the broadcaster, becoming its largest shareholder.
ITV shares dipped 0.2 percent to 114.25 pence ($2.17) on the London Stock Exchange.
