Ivus the Forest Lord - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft
Ivus the Forest Lord is a massive Ancient of War boss that aids the Alliance in Alterac Valley.
If Ivus successfully reaches Frostwolf base, he will stand in front of Frostwolf Keep and stay there unless provoked by enemy players, in which case he will give chase until he either leashes back, kills the enemy player, or is killed himself.
Ivus, like his counterpart Lokholar the Ice Lord can also be kited, but as he is neither attacked nor defended by NPCs on the field, and often delays their eventual movement forward.

The IVUS (Intravascular ultrasound guided direct intrahepatic portocaval shunt) guided DIPS procedure was developed at the Dotter Institute in an attempt to improve the conventional TIPS procedure.
As the shunt is performed directly from the IVC to the portal vein, the hepatic veins are excluded from the shunt, and hepatic veins obstruction are eliminated.

E-Journal - Volume 2 - Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) for detecting post-transplantation allograft vasculopathy in ...
IVUS application for diagnosis of coronary artery disease is a well explained method and its results in detecting allograft vasculopathy have been reported previously.
IVUS is the only known technique which identifies normal arterial wall (intima, media and adventitia) and the abnormal changes (lipid, fibrous connective tissue and calcium) (3).
In a series of transplant donors assessed by IVUS, coronary atheromas were found in 17% of those younger than 20 years, 37% of those aged 20 to 29 years, and 60% of those aged 30 to 39 years, whereas angiography results were negative in 97% of this population (7).

Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) or intravascular echocardiography is a combination of echocardiography and a procedure called cardiac catheterization.

MOHLTC - MAS - Intravascular Ultrasound to Guide Percutaneous Coronary Interventions   (Site not responding. Last check: )
IVUS has been used to study the structure of the arterial wall and nature of atherosclerotic plaques, and obtain measurements of the vessel lumen.
IVUS greatly enhances the cardiac interventionists’ ability to visualize and assess high-risk lesions such as long lesions, narrow lesions, and bifurcated lesions that may have indeterminate angiographic images.
The use of IVUS adjunctive to coronary angiography in percutaneous coronary interventions using bare metal stents in lesions predominantly at low risk for restenosis significantly reduced the target lesion and target vessel revascularization at a follow-up period of 18 months to 2.5 years.

Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) Imaging of Coronary Arteries
Transcatheter intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) imaging is a technique in which a miniaturized ultrasound transducer, mounted on the tip of catheter, is inserted directly into an artery or vein to produce either two-dimensional tomographic images or three-dimensional computer-assisted reconstructions of planar IVUS images.
Therefore, IVUS has been extensively investigated as a technique to determine plaque composition, mechanism of action of PTCA, and to determine residual plaque at the end of a procedure; i.e., the acute procedural success.
The results of IVUS suggested that the risk of thrombosis was in part related to improper stent placement or incomplete stent expansion.

 IVUS (Intravascular ultrasound)
Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) is a catheter-based technique, which provides real-time high-resolution images allowing precise tomographic assessment of lumen area, plaque size, and composition of a coronary segment, and therefore provides new insights into the diagnosis of and therapy for coronary disease.
IVUS is used in the coronary arteries to determine the amount of disease at any particular point in one of the coronary arteries regardless the presense or absence of any stenosis.
In IVUS images, the lumen is typically a dark echo-free area adjacent to the imaging catheter, and the coronary artery vessel wall mainly appears as three layers: intima, media, and adventitia.

IVUS is an imaging technique whereby an ultrasound transducer and a rotational mirror are mounted on a catheter tip, which is then inserted directly into the blood vessel.
IVUS is used in coronary and peripheral arteries to provide diagnostic and other information, including location, quantity and type of atherosclerotic plaque.
IVUS performed with a coronary intervention is likely to be paid if the procedure is documented and a valid diagnosis demonstrates medical necessity.

Because the IVUS catheter is positioned inside the blood vessel, there is a risk that the catheter will damage the blood vessel and cause a heart attack.

Device for implementing a cutting balloon intervention with ivus monitoring patent invention   (Site not responding. Last check: )
[0012] The introduction of an IVUS (intravascular ultrasound) catheter into the vessel enhances the imaging information, yet has the disadvantage that a relatively expensive catheter must also be inserted into the patient and must be removed from the vessel before the balloon catheter is inserted.
An IVUS system is described, for example, in EP 0 885 594 B1 and in U.S. Pat.
The provision of such a circumferential sensor array, in which the individual ultrasound transducers function simultaneously as transmitters and receivers, whereby they are appropriately controlled with staggered timing, means that a rotating IVUS sensor is not required and, of course, that no drive shaft is required to accommodate it.

From clinical studies published in the late 1990s to IVUS (in-the-artery-ultrasound) to visualize disease status, the typical heart attack occurs at locations with about 20% stenosis (narrowing), prior to sudden lumen closure and resulting heart attack.
On average, by clinical research using IVUS, there is a minor stenosis, about 20%, present over those unstable atheroma which rupture and result in major disability or death.
One way to see atheroma is the very invasive and costly IVUS ultrasound technology; it gives us the precise volume of the inside intima plus the central media layers of about 2.5 cm of artery length.

Innova IVUS is currently available for sale to GE Healthcare customers and will be co-marketed by the GE and Volcano sales and marketing organizations in the United States, Europe, certain markets in Asia and other world markets.

Characterization of non-calcified coronary atherosclerotic plaque by multi-detector row CT: comparison to IVUS.
We investigated the CT attenuation of non-calcified plaques as determined by 16-slice MDCT in comparison to intravascular ultrasound (IVUS).
At 252 sites within the coronary system, in which non-calcified atherosclerotic plaque could be identified both in MDCT and IVUS, the CT attenuation within the plaque was measured using a centrally placed region of interest and correlated to the appearance of the plaque in IVUS at the corresponding location.
However, we observed substantial overlap of attenuation values between plaque types so that the differentiation of "vulnerable" and "stable" plaques based on their CT attenuation is doubtful.
