 New Jersey Roads - I-295
But no, they want I-95 NB to follow I-295 southbound and I-195 EB, at least until PA gets up and builds the I-95/I-276 interchange to allow a smooth routing into the Turnpike at exit 6.
Once the Somerset Freeway was cancelled (see I-95 for more on that), I-295 was pulled back to US 1 and I-95 was extended there.
You would think that meant NJ wanted I-95 through traffic to follow US 1 to, say, I-287 to the NJ Turnpike, or the approximate route of the intended highway.

TiVo Community - DC SOAK: Getting to 95 North from Arlington, VA without Parkways
I take the BW Parkway whenever I'm going between DC and NJ; that's the best route unless you're aware of an accident on the parkway; second best is the beltway to I-95, but in your case it's a choice made for you since the parkway isn't an option.
If the answer is that it becomes a parkway "at the intersection between 295 and 50," (or, similarly, "at the Maryland border") then I'm home free.
295 is the BW parkway - that's the problem.
