		Penny Lang isn't ever gonna be 100% cool, but she is one of the few singers today that evokes thundering accolades that go far beyond the customary comments made about artists.
		Lang's eighth album "Stone and Sand and Sea and Sky" on Borealis Records caps a remarkable four decade career during which this delightful 63-year-old singer/guitarist has evolved from being a coffeehouse draw in her Montreal hometown to being one of Canada's leading roots-based artists.
		Lang's staunchest admirers might blanch at news that her new album was recorded over a two year period.

		Lang had a great ear from the get-go, as is indicated by the songs she covered from the pens of Bonnie Raitt, Buffy Ste.-Marie and Janis Ian, not to mention many important songwriters of the day including Bruce Murdoch, Chris Kearney, Paul Lauzon and Chris Rawlings.

		I think the reason it is hard to come to a conclusion on this subject is because it is conceptually embedded in a more general topic which is "hard" vs. "soft" failure design (programs designed to fail gracefully vs. programs that either work like a Swiss watch or abend), which is an interesting problem.
		I, too, am amazed that someone (Bruce) who has written so much in support of good design practices would be advocating a viewpoint that checked exceptions are a bad idea.
		And while I appreciate the discussion Bruce has initiated, I have the impression that there is some rationalization in his change of view.

		Now I read in an interview Jack Bruce saying that he has tapes of Lifetime recordings which are much better than the ones released on "turn it over".
		All that is required now is for the Beeb to release the 1977 Jack Bruce Band "In Concert" performance which from memory was the BBC's first quadrophonic live broadcast - and - the studio sessions Jack did also at the Beeb in the early 70s.
		Time: 2:40:10 AM Jack Bruce is the reason I am a bass player, as opposed to being the worst of three guitarists in a band who was handed the bass, if you know what I mean...
