North Lincolnshire Council - from September - was to change its half price concession policy in line with a new EU directive on age discrimination that said this was no longer possible and that concessions would only apply to those over 65.
This would have meant that from September this year, those between the ages of 60 and 65 would lose out and have to pay full price for their courses.
But MP Ian Cawsey took his case to the Government and found that there was in fact a loophole in the law that enabled the council to continue to offer concessions for over 60s.
