Ian Levine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Levine was also a resident DJ at the legendary gay disco Heaven, London's answer to the infamous, state-of-the-art New York nightclub The Saint.
Ian Levine is well-known as a fan of the BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who, on which he acted as an unofficial continuity consultant during the early 1980s.
Ian Levine has also been responsible for producing a number of extras on the Doctor Who DVD releases: the documentaries "Over the Edge" and "Inside the Spaceship" were included on the 3-disc set "The Beginning", while "Genesis of a Classic" appeared on the release for Genesis of the Daleks.

In 1975 Ian Levine was a disc jockey from England.
During this period, Levine was a constant victim of rip-offs and threats, but persevered to realize his dream, often having to call up friends and relatives for loans via Western Union for payoffs and to complete sessions.
Levine insisted he had a valid contract, that is, until he was taken on a scary car ride in a Mercedes with Thomas' ex-manager, who now wanted $2,000 for compensation.

 Episode Recoveries
Ian's quick reactions saved these film prints from destruction, as, according to the story, they would have been destroyed less than a day later.
Ian Levine, who had recovered almost the entire first two seasons a few months earlier, came into contact with a film collector in Australia called David Gee.
Unfortunately, this act of generosity created a stir in the fandom; he had kept those episodes, maybe he had more… Ian Levine has simply retained these complete episodes as a favour to friends of his, and because they were not his property, he didn’t see fit to return them himself.

I had no idea at the time that Ian was having to put up with all the [...] bashing and sheer nastiness that I now know was being aimed squarely at him by the old age pensioners society otherwise known as the laughable Northern Soul fraternity.
Ian had great difficulty with many of the former motowners as many of them had been left dumped like sacks of rubbish by Motown owner Berry Gordy.
Ian Levine's mega-ambitious Motorcity project in the early 90s would also see this tireless man reuniting the original formation of The Marvelettes.

Levine while on holiday in Miami purchased in a charity sale four thousand ex radio station records which along with his DJ colleague Colin Curtis created in his own words 'the so called greatest team up in history of Northern Soul'.
The Carstairs "It Really Hurts My Girl" is considered by Levine to be the record that heralded this change and over the years has come to be regarded as the Mecca's anthem.
Levine has chosen to include several of his own productions, but for this listener only the Barbara Pennington track cuts the mustard.

Ian fell out badly with David Inches who co owns Heaven at the 21st anniversary party and now refuses to DJ there, I am hoping that this can be resolved as a " One night in Heaven" Hi nrg special would be terrific. As for the Barbra Pennington, I'vre no idea on that one..

The Best of L.J. Johnson: My Destination Is Love - L.J. Johnson - Music Reviews
One of Englishman Ian Levine's first American soul discoveries, Chicagoan L.J. Johnson was among the said producer's earliest acts promoted on the British Northern soul scene.
Levine and partner Danny Ray Leake's busy arrangement is replete with an insistent string section, a charging backbeat, and fanatical horns which all add up to a quite upbeat listening experience, but occasionally intrude on Johnson's territory.
Many of the selections are disco-fied R&B numbers, such as "24 Hours a Day," earlier recorded by fellow Levine protégée Barbara Pennington, and the fulfilling title track.
