IAN McCaskill has revealed he was to blame for failing to spot the infamous 1987 hurricane not Michael Fish.
But McCaskill said he was the senior forecaster on that night and confessed he missed the warning signs.
McCaskill said: "Our children should be very, very worried and our grandchildren should be worried sick." The 67-year-old insisted plenty can be done to combat climate change which causes rising sea levels.

Probably one of the most famous forecasters to work at the BBC Weather Centre, Ian McCaskill, was born in Glasgow on July 28, 1938 and educated at Queen's Park School, Glasgow and Glasgow University where he studied Science.
Ian left the RAF in 1961 to join the Met Office, after which his postings included Prestwick Airport, Malta and the Manchester Weather Centre.
He was a member of BBC Television's forecasting team until his retirement in July 1998, except for a break between 1983 and 1985 when he worked at Birmingham Airport and as a weatherman for Central Television.

PEDAL power was in action at Wycombe's biggest charity bike ride at the weekend.
Weatherman Ian McCaskill started the ride as about 350 cyclists took part in the Rotary Club's Pedal Push 2003 to raise money for two charities the Wishbone Trust and Scannappeal.
Money was also raised for riders' individual charities and it is hoped that upwards of £20,000 will be collected.
