Amazon.ca: The Nature of Fascism: Books: Roger Griffin   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
Griffin attempts to provide a definition for the essence of a series of movements and political regimes which were given rise to in the earlier part of this last century and which he believes constitute "fascism".
Griffin defines this generic fascism as: "Fascism is a genus of political ideology whose mythic core in its various permutations is a palingenetic form of populist ultra-nationalism.
Griffin argues against Eric Voegelin's thesis that fascism (particularly National Socialism) is a form of political religion, a revival of the Gnostic heresy with roots in the apocalyptic tradition represented by the medieval monastic Joachim of Fiore.

The Griffin Trust For Excellence In Poetry: Press Coverage
The double Griffin Prize, founded six years ago by the auto parts entrepreneur, is the world's most generous poetry award.
Named for Scott Griffin, their generous patron, the annual awards go to the two best books of poetry, including translations, published in English in the previous year.
Griffin Prize founder and patron Scott Griffin took to the podium, set up, appropriately enough, in the library bar of the Fairmount Royal York Hotel, and threw out a challenge to the assembled media types in Toronto yesterday.

MR. KISS KISS BANG BANG! Why Isn't The World Enough?
So when Griffin Or goes on at length about possible ties to Sir Thomas Bond (for whom Bond Street was named), 007's patience runs out rather quickly.
Griffin Or broke in excitedly, "And this charming motto of the line, 'The World Is Not Enough.' You do not wish to have the right to it?"
Interestingly enough, there is a piece of evidence to support this theory, and it comes from Ian Fleming himself, again in "OHMSS." In the chapter where Bond first visits Piz Gloria, the high-priced mountaintop resort that hides Blofeld's virus-making lab, 007 spots a famous movie actress among the crowd of celebrities.

I LOVE Patty Griffin: I think she has one of the most distinctive and dynamic voices of all the girl singers around, but she really needs to work on her stage presence.
The album is basically just Griffin and her acoustic guitar, and the storytelling lyrics are incredibly moving.
Not everyone finds it that bad—the Patty Griffin list was buzzing with dialectic when this came out, and it was interesting to see that a dedicated list (where, I've found, the fans tend to put the "fan" back into "fanatical") could be home to such dissent.

David Ray Griffin: 9/11 and the American Empire
I will close with the observation that, insofar as Americans participate in this anti-imperialist movement, their activities will be deeply patriotic, because they will be seeking to call our nation back to its moral ideals, which stand diametrically opposed to the values implicit in the global domination project.
