Ian commented "It's a disappointment not to move up to the championship class but the budget was simply not available.
Ian shook down his new car at the Formula Renault test day at Brands Hatch on the 17th April, his championship winning car was sold to try and help finance a step up in class.
Ian reported the car responded wall and the new engine felt reasonably strong although a little tight due to its lack in mileage.

Ian Pearson rattles off future technologies that range from the seemingly magical, such as supercomputers that breed like yoghurt cultures, to using your mobile phone in the mundane act of finding your mates at the pub.
Pearson is the futurist-in-residence at British Telecom's research labs, one of the most hallowed halls of deep research in the world and, along with Bell Labs in the US, a birthplace of early optical-fibre technologies.
Pearson says that within a generation, we will grow computers from biological cultures that are faster than those we today construct in silicon, gold and plastic.

For race one, Ian made an average start and lost a place in the first corner before making up a further four places at Druids hairpin before being pushed off onto the grass and down to 19th position.
Ian got his head down and passed several cars during the 20 lap race, two of which were breath taking, out braking manouveres into the first paddock hill bend - eventually netting an eleventh polace just outside the points.
Despite Ian being on comparable pace to some of the front runners he was unable to find a way through and eventually finished the race in this position.
