IHD: Media Release 04.04.2002 (tracing fruit damage in orchards - flying foxes)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-14)
Ian Temby, wildlife damage control officer from NRE's Parks, Flora and Fauna Division, recently conducted a workshop with NRE crop scouts and several fruit growers at an apple and pear orchard near Coldstream in the Yarra Valley.
Ian said that the best evidence of flying fox damage is the "spats" (discarded mouthfuls of fruit) found on the ground under trees.
As a complement to the workshop, Mr Temby is producing photographic and descriptive resources for the Cropwatch scouts to use in identifying damage caused by flying foxes and various bird species.

Tembie's meaningless ruling meant it was a month before Greiner was exonerated.
Following Temby's finding that there are reasonable grounds to dismiss Greiner, the premier's fate is in the hands of the three independents who hold the balance of power in the lower house: John Hatton, Clover Moore and Peter Macdonald.
Ironically, Greiner is quite correct when he points out, plaintively, that Temby said his actions, while corrupt, were not contrary to “known and recognised standards of honesty and integrity”.

RCRG Publications - Reflections on Eastwood's Concept of Democratic Accountability and Continuity
Ian Temby QC, Head of the New South Wales' Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has defined it in a government context, as that which `reflects and reinforces a value system in relation to government and administration which is solid and good...'.
The administrative law framework meant to provide a wider accountability to parliament and to the general community remains, but its effectiveness in relation to accountability of government institutions to the public in general, as opposed to individual members of the public in their role as clients of government services is questionable.
3 Despite this climate there are those who have tried to give institutional or organisational accountability a moral tone, as Ian Temby declared `...to whom and in what manner, and with what effect a public official or public institution is made to answer for the discharge of its responsibilities'.

Temby asked Cowan to produce notes regarding the interview, and mused out loud that this might be another cash for comment scenario.

Ian did everything he could in a practical way to help Blanche recover from her illness, but it was not in his nature to provide any steadfast emotional support.

Problems caused by the Silver Gull
Gulls roosting or nesting on roofs can cause blockage of gutters with regurgitated bones and with nesting material; reduce the life-span of roof materials; and disturb staff with noise, odours and by swooping during the nesting season.
Line spacing may need to be reduced to one metre or less to exclude gulls from nesting sites on roofs.
These include: use of static artificial predators such as snakes, owls and hawks; use of kites resembling birds of prey; use of humming line (tape); use of electronic noise generators that create artificial noises (as opposed to the birds' own alarm and distress calls); and nest and egg removal (gulls renest within a few days).

Clearly, it must have some significance in relation to the previous mortgage broking issues and, indeed, the matters that affected so many investors around the State if it is to be the Government’s formal response to the royal commission on that matter.
That was certainly identified in the Temby royal commission, as well as the Gunning inquiry.
