While the sound was a bit bass heavy throughout the whole set (this might just have been because we were sitting under a balcony) the saxophones often rang out and dominated most of the songs in the set.

Even without biG GRunt having played a note of music in public, the background of the individual members made it clear that they were a formidable prospect both musically and as performers.
However, Stanshall's well-documented personal problems made it difficult for him to give the project his full attention and keep the line-up together, and by the summer of 1971 biG GRunt were unofficially but obviously defunct.

Side One marks the first of these solo efforts (the other two should be released within a year), Belew’s first full-fledged solo outing since 1996’s Op Zop Too Wah.
With Tool drummer Danny Carey and Primus bassist Les Claypool, Belew has assembled what he refers to as a “power trio” on three of Side One’s tracks – “Ampersand,” “Writing on the Wall” and “Matchless Man.” Strangely, they’re probably the weakest songs on the disc.
The brief, hypnotic “Under The Radar” leads into former King Crimson drummer, Ian Wallace, giving a spoken introduction to “Elephants,” another in a long line of tunes where Belew shows his interest in wildlife.
