Kalibo, Aklan, June 7, 2001 - Thousands of high school students are out of school this year due to the proclamation of the Aklan State University (ASU) in Banga as the Agriculture University in Western Visayas and due to lack of secondary schools.
Under the new Integrated School, considered a first in Aklan, the first year high school students will be considered grade seven; grade eight for the second year; grade ninth for the third year and grade tenth for the fourth year.
Aklan Gov. Florencio Miraflores said he welcomes the establishment of the new school in the province and he hopes these new developments will provide better education for secondary level students and parents will now be paying lesser tuition.

Checks will be awarded to recipient barangays of KALAHI, namely Monlaque, Aparicio and Malindog for their commonly identified development needs determined during interviews and focus group discussions, like the improvement of farm-to-market roads, improvement in farming technology, access to credit, improvement in health services, access to electricity, and potable water system.
From the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) alone, it is seen that the KALAHI area in Ibajay will get the DAR Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project II (ARISP II) in the amount of P29,297,102.00 to fund the rehabilitation of the 1.66 km.
