Bedrock of the district consists of regionally metamorphosed early Paleozoic terrigeneous formation of the Kharaa Group that is intruded by early Paleozoic calc-alkaline rocks of the Boroogol complex gabbro-granodiorite-granite complex, a middle Paleozoic alkaline granite-leucogranite complex, and an early Mesozoic gabbro-granodiorite-granite complex in small intrusives and dikes.
District is divided in to the Boroo, Zuunmod and the Borkhujiryn-gol subdistricts.
District is underlain by the early Paleozoic the Kharaa Group of terrigeneous rock, early Paleozoic and Devonian granitoids, Carboniferous and Permian sedimentary clastic rock, early Mesozoic variable composition dikes, and Early Cretaceous conglomerate.

Ibusuki, located in the southeastern end of the Satsuma-hanto Peninsula, is a typical tourist resort in Kyushu, full of the atmosphere of southern countries, blessed with mild weather, and surrounded by hibiscuses.
Kagoshima and its suburbs are located in the northeastern part of the Satsuma-hanto Peninsula, and face Kagoshima Bay, which is also called Kinko Bay.
It is comprised of coral reefs that have surfaced in the Amami Islands having a circumference of 24 kilometers.

Ibusuki's bright-yellow and orange train station lies on the west side of town.
The most useful local bus service connects the station with Ibusuki port (4–5 daily; 5min; ¥130), from where Toppy jetfoils (tel 0992/55-7888) sail to Kagoshima (daily; 40min; ¥2100) and Yakushima (daily; 1hr 15min; ¥6000) – note that you need reservations to get on these boats.
In general, you're probably best off eating in your hotel, since the choice of restaurants in Ibusuki is pretty limited, especially in the winter season.

If you happen to be in Ibusuki in the winter, or during a bout of cold weather, I highly recommend slapping down the 1,500 yen, for it is well worth it.
This volcanic island sits in the middle of Kagoshima Bay, and there is a youth hostel you can stay at for around 2,000 yen a night (this is super-cheap, and better than camping out during a hot and humid Kagoshima night, as I found out).
At night time, the red light district is really lively, and the girls flirt more agressively to drag prospective clients into their snack bars.

 93 hurt when Japanese ferry hits suspected whale
According to the 10th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters in Kagoshima, 88 of the 109 passengers and five of the six crew members on the high-speed ferry Toppy 4 were hurt.
According to a spokesman at Kagoshima Shosen, which operates the ferry, Toppy was cruising near its maximum speed of 50 mph at the time of the accident.
The district transport bureau believes it highly likely that many of the ferry's passengers who were injured had not fastened their seat belts.
