	Ice age - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Glaciologically, ice age is often used to mean a period of ice sheets in the northern and southern hemispheres; by this definition we are still in an ice age (because the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets still exist).
		The earliest well-documented ice age, and probably the most severe of the last 1 billion years, occurred from 800 to 600 million years ago (the Cryogenian period) and it has been suggested that it produced a Snowball Earth in which permanent sea ice extended to or very near the equator.
		The present ice ages are the most studied and best understood, particularly the last 400,000 years, since this is the period covered by ice cores that record atmospheric composition and proxies for temperature and ice volume.

	Ice Age
		As George viewed the film and listened to the reactions of kids in the audience, he noticed there was a mixture of fear for natural enemies (animals who survive by eating other animals) and joy as various species did positive things within their own "culture" as well as helping others.
		While "Ice Age" is not as slickly produced as "Shrek" or "Monsters, Inc.," it's a thoroughly enjoyable film, along the lines of "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius." Of the four films, this one is probably the most fun for the very young and the easiest to see a second time because of its lighthearted cartoon-like flavor.
		The opening and closing scenes of "Ice Age" are destined to become classics and when this film comes out on video we'll add it to our library.
