IceWM has a couple flaws such as the focus problem (which happens less and less on modern versions), and less than stellar cut and paste, which can be enhanced with a clipboard program such as klipper.

IceWM is a very light and highly configurable window manager for the X Window System.
One of the great things about IceWM is that unlike KDE and Gnome, you don't need to install "applets" to have your programs run or minimize in the sytem tray.
Anytime you make any changes to your IceWM settings that directly affect the main toolbar, you have to restart IceWM for the changes to take affect (the same is not true, however, if you add or edit programs in the sub-menus).

i installed IceWM, when i login in root and try to install it the system requiest from me to login with dsl use and install it.
IceWM is a window manager, and so it probably doesn't have a menu item for anyone (unless it runs a script to set up your system to use it?).
Third, there is no benefit to it...in DSL anything you can do logged in as root can be done with sudo, and you lose some of the features that were designed for dsl.

Turning off the automatic loading of Nautilus under IceWM - K12LTSP Wiki
UPDATE March 3, 2006: Somewhere between K12LTSP version 2.0.1 and version 4.4.1, the file that needs to be modified changed (as did the whole gdm configuration process, apparently).
IceWM is ideal for older hardware because it is small and loads quickly (it works well on newer hardware, too, but you get the idea).
On a 200Mhz server with 128Mb RAM, the time from logging in to IceWM being up and ready to run is about 2 seconds; with Nautilus loading, that time stretches out to about 45 seconds, which will be frustrating for many users.
