Morphological variations of the wing were compared for the Icterine Warbler population in eastern Burgundy between 1965/76 and 1985/96.

The Barred Warbler had been sighted in the bushes right next to the Wryneck, but no one I spoke to had even spoken to anyone who had seen it and they had been there since five minutes after it was reported.

For me the Icterine stance is more upright than the bird in the photo plus should have a more peaked Crown so for me it isn't an Icterine.
The bird in the photograph was seen in Olive Groves and the bird of the region that likes that habitat is Olivaceous Warbler although the species of that region (elaeica) is usually a greyer bird.
You also have to question the stance regarding Icterine as they are a more upright bird when perched, and I still think that a Melodious would have a rounder crown.
