For many years there has been some scientific debate as to whether the Accipitriformes are a separate order, or belong to the Falconiformes.
Greater Spotted Eagle, Aquila clanga and Lesser Spotted Eagle, Aquila pomarina should be moved either to join Long-crested Eagle, Lophaetus occipitalis or, perhaps better, all three of these species should move to Ictinaetus with the Black Eagle, Ictinaetus malayensis.
Steppe and Tawny Eagles, once thought to be conspecific, are shown not even to be each other's nearest relatives.

Like all eagles, it is in the family Accipitridae, and is the only member of the genus Ictinaetus (Blyth, 1843).

 BirdForum - help:who have the photo of black eagle
Today I see two eagles in the sky, I guest they are "Ictinaetus malayensis",but I am not sure.Beacuse I didn't see it,just in book.
By the way,there is a photo my friend catched it some times ago,is it "Ictinaetus malayensis"?
I don't know what Ictinaetus looks like in the juvenile forms but your attached pic doesn't seem to be this genus - looks more like some type of Accipiter.

On April 26 2000, the Natural Resource Conservation Unit (Unit Konservasi Sumberdaya Alam-KSDA) raided the Jalan Bintang bird market in Medan, north Sumatra, and seized a number of species that are protected by national legislation.
These included three Siamang Hylobates synactylus (CITES I) and the following CITES II-listed species: two Slow Lorises Nycticebus coucang; one Black Eagle Ictinaetus malayensis; 13 cockatoos - Sulphur-crested Cockatoos Cacatua galerita and Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoos C. sulphurea - and two Eclectus Parrots Eclectus roratus.
All animals were given to Siantar Zoo in north Sumatra.
