The Top 40 Albums of 2004 - Article - Stylus Magazine
Hates the idea of rating one album as better than another, hates the idea of forgetting something at the last minute, hates the idea of an immutable canon of music that stands as the “Stylus view” of the world.
If Franz Ferdinand's debut album is the most unanimously acclaimed rock album to achieve mainstream success since the first Strokes album, it has less to do with the album's strengths and more to do with the album's lack of weaknesses.
Lil Jon is the real star, however, and this album finds him delving into the depths of southern dance music and subsequently surfacing with not just his own best work of the year, but one of the best albums of 2004.

No matter what metal album he has worked on, and there have been many, you can always hear this sound and connection.
This album is mostly to satiate their fans while they write and record a new album.
It's very obvious that all the songs are recorded during different periods in their career as the production on the later songs is far better than on the early covers, and you can hear a progression in music qualities as well.

They released an album and 10 45 rpm records of gay parody songs, most done with effeminate voices.
The address on the album record jacket was PO Box 3213, Hollywood, California, and it credited all selections to "Different Music Co, Hollywood."
The album probably came out in 1964 or 1965, as it pictures on the back all the previous releases of the label.

Forthcoming XTC Box Boasts Rarities Galore
Meanwhile, a new XTC studio album from Partridge and Moulding may arrive this year, but more likely in 2003 via TVT in the U.S., and, presumably, by Idea Records in the U.K. (the label has ended its association with Cooking Vinyl).
The group's highest charting U.S. album was 1989's Geffen release "Oranges and Lemons," which reached No. 45 on The Billboard 200 and spawned the singles "King for a Day" and "Mayor of Simpleton," the latter of which topped Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart.
Shortly after the release of the box set, look for Caroline Records to begin reissuing the first 10 XTC studio albums in digitally mastered form.

With the great news that mythical SMiLE album will finally be heard live played by Brian Wilson, we are dedicating part of this issue of EAR CANDY to a few of the fan mixes of SMiLE that are out there.
Any notion of furthering the idea of 'Smile' being the near masterpiece it may have been is one I'm happy to continue (as well as 'Pet Sounds' being the masterpiece that 'is').
I'm glad now that I'm able to pass on 'Smile' to people as something they can put in their CD players and listen to, rather than just telling them about the idea or playing pieces of it.

 Andrew W.K. Album Reviews
I mean, this guy’s idea of a deep lyric is “take it off.” Then again, his idea of partying is smashing his own face with a brick (see the album cover).
Of course, these songs are simply too dumb to ever come off as threatening, and this album’s slick, commercial production (Bob Rock would be proud) makes it more of a piece with ‘80s hair metal or mindless ‘70s bands such as The Sweet or Slade than any bands currently using the heavy metal moniker.
As such, this can be seen as a really loud pop album, and it’s actually kinda fun in limited dosages.

"Infinity" Album Review -- USPFC's On-Line Album Review: Journey's "Infinity"
Steve Perry's first album (Journey's fourth) and Journey's first successful album, "Infinity," is quite a great start for Perry considering he initially gave up on the idea of being a rock star.
> Steve Perry's first album (Journey's fourth) and >Journey's first successful album, "Infinity," is quite >a great start for Perry considering he initially gave >up on the idea of being a rock star.
Track one, "Lights," is one of the groups best (and probably Perry's best on this album), not only because of Neal Schon's wailing guitar solo but because of Steve Perry's "trademark" 'whoa oo whoa ohh ohh ohh!' in between verses, and the best part of the song is the bridge.

Wikipedia and copyright issues - From Meta; discussion about Wikimedia projects
An image that's just an illustration to an otherwise complete article (like the video and album covers, for example) shouldn't be a problem, although you're right that it could be a problem for downstream use (although most such downstream uses will have the same fair use rights we do).
Just as it would be a very bad idea to have non-free text, I think it would be a bad idea to have articles that depend on non-free images, and if you find such an article, it would be appropriate to call attention to that problem.

My stance here is not to demolish the idea of an album, but rather to rebut the idea that the diminishing prevalence of considering an album as a whole is a lamentable occasion.
There are many bands whose albums I can put on and listen to from start to finish, and feel completely absorbed in their art.
Taking a song off of an album and considering it on its own or as part of a mix is like considering a Monet painting in the company of many other artists' work.

The difference here, the difference which will sell several hundred thousand copies of this album, is in the hype, the thick overlay of teenage-revolution and total-energy-thing which conceals these scrapyard vistas of clichés and ugly noise.
Well, the album is out now and we can all judge for ourselves.
Clearly this notion of violent, total youth revolution and takeover is an idea whose time has come - which speaks not well for the idea but ill for the time.

Halfway through the cup it occurred to me that this could be a very dumb idea: I knew nutmeg could be hallucinogenic or toxic in relatively small quantities (neither of which effects I wanted), but I had no idea what "small" meant.

The History of Rock Music. El Guapo: biography, discography, reviews, links
Each of the three previous albums introduced something completely new, but this one merely simplifies the idea behind the third album's electronic pop, to the point that El Guapo occasionally sounds like a badly disfigured New Order mix.
El Guapo debuted with the six-song EP The Burden of History (Resin, 1997), followed by the album The Phenomenon of Renewal (Resin, 1998) and the live album The Geography of Dissolution (Mud Memory, 2000).

Christopher Ruel's Jazz Fusion Music Reviews
The album consists of complex, mind-bending compositions in a concept album format where the tracks are bound by a unifying thread of musical continuity that runs throughout the album giving it a paradoxical cohesion relative to the diverse musical ideas that Hoekstra explores.
Greg Howe has a certain type of pschological mastery that he knows just how long to work an idea before it is time to move on to the next idea.
The music on this album is a little closer to the conventional jazz end of the compositional spectrum than the wildly explorative jazz fusion that sometimes misses with listener appeal.

The selection of records on this compilation set is impeccable, really keeping a natural progression from beginning to end; starting off with some white noise and drums, Lawler progresses the album into something that you can't help but dance to.
