Topic: Ideal preprocessor

Troff   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
The eqn preprocessor allowed mathematical formulae to be specified in a much simpler and more intuitive manner.
The refer preprocessor (and the similar program, bib) processes citations in a document according to a bibliographic database.
Likewise the ideal preprocessor did the same, although via a much different paradigm.

Correlated double sampling CCD video preprocessor-amplifier - Patent 4287441
The invention provides a preprocessor using sample-and-hold circuits and lifiers which performs double correlated sampling of the output of a CCD with full efficiency at rates up to those at which these elements can perform individually.
An ideal output circuit would produce a train of so-called "boxcar" waveshape pulses of period T and based on a reference level 11 as depicted and explained in FIG.
Ideally, the aperture time of the S/H circuit will be short enough to be fitted into the reference level interval or the video step interval without overlapping the capacitively coupled reset pulse or the reference-to-video transition.

Appendix A   An Introduction to Preprocessor Metaprogramming   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
The fundamental unit of data in the preprocessor is the preprocessing token.
Normally, when a macro in the Preprocessor library expects a numeric argument, it must be passed as a single token.
If you've ever tried to use a debugger to step through a function generated by a preprocessor macro, you know that it's a frustrating experience at best: The debugger shows you the line from which the macro was ultimately invoked, which usually looks nothing at all like the code that was generated.

Performance as a function of compression
The BLDC preprocessor utilizes a run-length encoding scheme that defines byte-sized run-length codes which are readily processed by the ALDC core.
Degradation from this ideal is due to characteristics of the algorithm and the implementation.
The performance of the BLDC algorithm is degraded from ideal when the run-length encoding generates data at a rate greater than one byte per cycle.

Troff - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A typical distribution of troff includes the me macros for formatting research papers, man macros for creating Unix man pages, and the ms macros for books, technical documentation, and reports.
As troff developed, since there are several things which cannot be done easily in troff, work on several preprocessors began.
These programs would transform certain parts of a document into troff input, making a very natural use of "pipes" in Unix -- sending the output of one program as the input to another (see pipes and filters).

This is not a preprocessor definition either: the value of `msglen' is evaluated _once_, using the value of `$' (see *Note Section 3.5:: for an explanation of `$') at the point of definition, rather than being evaluated wherever it is referenced and using the value of `$' at the point of reference.
Preprocessor Variables: `%assign' ---------------------------------------- An alternative way to define single-line macros is by means of the `%assign' command (and its case-insensitive counterpart `%iassign', which differs from `%assign' in exactly the same way that `%idefine' differs from `%define').
Ideally, you would write the `multipush' macro call, then cut-and-paste the line to where the pop needed to be done, and change the name of the called macro to `multipop', and the macro would take care of popping the registers in the opposite order from the one in which they were pushed.

That means we have to keep the C preprocessor support, among other things.
The C preprocessor was originally designed as a completely separate step from compilation.
Sort of like what you can do with a combination of the C preprocessor and C++ tempaltes, only far less of a pain in the ass.

 Dr. Dobb's | Implementing Assertions for Java | July 22, 2001
Ideally, users should be able to place the postcondition at the top of the method and have the assertion tool evaluate it at all of the appropriate locations.
A preprocessor can be used to provide the ability to compile programs without including the assertions that are embedded in the source code.
The preprocessor or Java compiler could be used to copy the assertions from the superclasses to the derived class at compile time.

An ideal solution would allow the programmer to define a generic abstraction of the class, and then allow the class to adapt according to the type with which it is instantiated.
Because our preprocessor is experimental, the code has not been tuned for performance, and is not suitable for performance testing.
By using a load-time preprocessor, we are able to postpone code blowup until run time, and achieve observed preliminary performance increases as high as 27% over the corresponding Java code with type casting.

TclTP – TCL-based text preprocessor   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
TclTP (pronounced Tickle-Type) is a text preprocessor similar to M4 or the C preprocessor in that it parses text with command and variable definitions and expansions.
This means it adds preprocessor directives to TCL which are supposed to be processed before a TCL script is evaluated by the TCL interpreter.
Preprocessor directives are "hidden" in special comments so that a Tipi script works even if it was not processed by Tipi.

 speex_preprocess() - TeamSpeak
Note that the preprocessor is a bit "quirky" at times and it takes a long time to adjust to drastical changes in the enviroment (like changing the mic volume suddenly), so you should include a button to reset it.
The good thing about the preprocessor is that it runs all the time, and so uses the frames where there is no voice activity to "learn" noise patterns.
This solution is far from ideal, as it works with data at a different sample-rate than what is ideal for speex (22 vs 16 khz), and it seems this cleaned up input messes with TS' own postprocessing; while the noise is gone, it sounds like you're sitting in a large stone chamber.

Preprocessor directives can control which lines of code are compiled for which target configuration.
Preprocessor directives are commonly used to define constants, but can also be used to include certain sections of code under particular conditions.

The length and time units of conductivity and specific heat must be consistent with the rest of the properties.
This is necessary, for instance, for calculating densities from the ideal gas law.

A solid model is the ideal starting point, in most cases, for conversion to CFD analysis.
Another advantage of working with a solid is the possibility of using a CAD system and a CFD preprocessor that use the same solid modeling engine, such as ACIS (www.spatial.com) or Parasolid (www.parasolid.com), which normally results in a trouble-free conversion process.
Using the preprocessor to create the geometry from scratch also has the advantage of allowing the user to work with an interface that is probably simpler than the CAD package used in his company, and one with which he is probably much more comfortable.

Using the current NIS implementation of the LCFG resource map, it would be unwieldy to hold the full list of RPMs in the map itself, so the lists are held in files which are referenced by LCFG resources.
This is adequate since we tend to install most available software on most machines, but it is not ideal, and this may change as we move to a different technology for map distribution.
The package specification files are preprocessed with the C preprocessor to provide some degree of structure similar to the LCFG files themselves.
