  AEG PE
AEG PE The AEG PE (Panzer Einsitzer — "armoured one-seater")was a triplane ground attack aircraft of World War I, one of the first aircraft to be designed from the outset for that role.
It was rejected by the Idflieg because it was felt that its poor maneuverability made it too vulnerable to enemy fighters.

The Idflieg identification plate was mandatory on all major components, wings fuselage and tails.
I can understand how the Idflieg plate could be missed, The Fokker plate abutted the Idflieg plate at the bottom and both plates were almost the same in width.
I have not noticed an Idflieg plate on any Dr.I, E.V or D.VIII with the exception of a D.VIII being dismantled at McCook field after the war, it had one attached to the lower centre of the ammunition box.

 Tom's Modelworks' Pfalz D.VIII
One of the most important watersheds of German fighter development during the First World War was the First Fighter Competition held by Idflieg at Schwerin airfield in January, 1918.
With outstanding performance that included a time to climb to 1000m of 1min 5sec, and to 5000m in 11min 1 sec, the Pfalz fighters were veritable rockets for the time.
Idflieg decreed that either the Pfalz D.VII or D.VIII would go on to production, depending on static load tests.

 Fokker Dr.I 1917 history
Was ihn dazu veranlasste, ist bisher ebenfalls ungeklärt.

 Junkers D.1
After the beginning of the First World War Junkers convinced Idflieg of the potential of his development.
This low-wing monoplane, an unusual design for the time, naturally had a limited view downwards from the cockpit, and this also has resulted in disapproval from the pilots.
Nevertheless the Idflieg ordered a series of 40 aircraft, but by the end of the war the Junkers firm had built only 15 machines (12 by February 1919, when all military production was stopped by order of the Allies).

The serial production of these initial aircraft was started in June 1917 and in August 1917 the first aircraft were delivered to the operational front units.

 Eduard's 1/48 Albatros D.III(OAW)
The Albatros D.III was the result of German experience fighting the Nieuport 17 sesquiplane.
The agile Nieuport was thought to owe its flying characteristics to the sesquiplane layout, and Idflieg, the command of the German Air Service, required that all German aircraft manufacturers present sesquiplanes for possible orders.
Following Idflieg's orders, Albatros took their relatively-heavy biplane and adapted it for the sesquiplane layout, which was not really suited for the kind of fighter Albatros had created; in fact, the sesquiplane layout would prove to be an aerodynamic dead-end, suited only for lightly-loaded designs like the Nieuport.

 Blue Max' Halberstadt Cl.II
The Halberstadt Cl.II was designed to a specification issued by Idflieg in August 1916 for a new type of two-seater: this "C-class light" would be an escort fighter to protect heavier standard C class machines such as the Albatros C.XII.
The specification called for a weight reduction of 250-260kg from standard C-class airplanes with an attendant increase in performance.
Ordered in November 1916, the prototype was rolled out in April 1917 and tested successfully in May. The airplane was lightly built but strong, fast and agile.

The Siemens-Schuckert Werke (SSW), a German electrical and aeronautics concern, submitted a prototype known as the SSW D.I, which was a direct copy of the Nieuport 11.
