Rich Girl - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The song also interpolates the song "If I Were a Rich Man" written by Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock for the musical Fiddler on the Roof.
Although the song is based on "If I Were a Rich Man", it was also an adaptation of an earlier pop song by British reggae musicians Louchie Lou and Michie One.
"Rich Girl" was released on February 21, 2005 in Australia, and on March 14, 2005 in Europe.

 Gwen Stefani - Rich Girl | Review | PlanetWisdom.com
First released as pre-album single July 12th, “Rich Girl” featuring Eve is essentially a remix of the “Fiddler on the Roof”; musical classic “If I Were a Rich Man.” It’s a funky, catchy pop song, produced by Dr. Dre.
And that’s were the song ends up with Gwen and Eve ranting about their success and all the love they’re getting because of it.
In Matthew 19 a young rich man asks Jesus, “What good thing must I do to get eternal life?” And Jesus tells him that to be perfect he must sell off all his possessions and give to the poor, then follow come and follow him.

Fiddler on the Roof (1964 Original Broadway Cast) | Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, ... | wonderful,...
Many of Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick's songs have become touchstones of popular culture, including "Tradition," "If I Were a Rich Man," and "Sunrise, Sunset." As Tevye, Zero Mostel leads--and at times dominates--the original 1964 Broadway cast, displaying irrepressible swagger and bluster.
Tevye, a god fearing man with three young daughters he wants to marry off, is having real trouble deciding on the proper husbands for them because the young women prove perfectly capable of making the decision for themselves.
The songs I enjoy the most from this album are "If I Were A Rich Man," "To Life," "The Dream," "Sunrise, Sunset," and "The Rumor." Overall, this album is ok...it's worth a listen.

WorldNetDaily: If I were a rich man
One of the most memorable numbers in the musical, Fiddler on the Roof, is Tevye's what-if song, "If I Were a Rich Man." There in his ramshackle barn the poor, Jewish dairyman living in czarist Russia daydreams about being wealthy.
In the introduction to his song, Tevye sheepishly admits, "I realize, of course, that it's no shame to be poor." Maybe, if there's no shame in it, we should just content ourselves with being poor.
So even if the old codger is being a jerk and stashing his loot, his pigheaded decision still benefits those around him.

Since Burt Bacharach and Hal David teamed up in 1957 they have written 192 songs together, but surprisingly their score for the film "Lost Horizon", which was chosen to feature in the Royal Film Performance of 1973, marked the first occasion on which they had composed a complete screen musical.
The three songs which serve to complete Geoff's selection on this album have all become firmly established as perennial favourites in their own right.
