Despite his tremendous disillusionment with the establishment in Pakistan, Mian Iftikharuddin attempted all such attempts, preferring to live and die as a Pakistani.

A holder of MBA degree from a foreign university, Shahzada Iftikharuddin said that rulers should realise the fact and rise to the occasion by materialising the “dream of Chitralis”.
Regarding largescale unemployment, he said the problem could be overcome with efficient management and development of natural resources as there was a wide gap between jobs in the public sector and the number of unemployed youth.

Iftikharuddin had a room at the Hotel Intercontinental where he often entertained us, his poor country cousins, and it was at the hotel one evening that this American, claimed Iftikharuddin, insulted Pakistan and when he protested, the man had charged into him like a bull.
Iftikharuddin had lodged a police report and as he worked for Pakistan Times he had arranged with us to have a story or two filed every week about the “journalist assault case”.
I have no idea where Iftikharuddin is or what happened to that American; what I do know is that Mr Awan is gone, a couple of months short of his 90th birthday.

He said that during the current financial year 2003-04 about 30 lakn rupees would be given to 30 madrasas libraries.
