Nigeriaworld Letters & Viewpoints (Bola Ige: Political chameleon?)
Ige's decision to serve believing that his political belief intact and that he would serve wisely perhaps would show the populace the kind of talent AD administration could have banqueted to Nigeria.
Ige failed as minister of steel and power, he wasted no time to reassure those from his party concerning his influence on the administration when he stated that Obasanjo's PDP government was implementing AD programs.
On that score Bola Ige is a consistently inconsistent politician, a man whose words today are different with his yesterday utterances, a man who lacks integrity and consistency of purpose.

A reading of Bola Ige   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
Bola Ige's passion was a pure form that enveloped patriotism, nationalism and deep commitment to the striving of the "wretched of the earth".
Ige's distinction is not, however, the popular, but largely false one that is usually made, in an executive presidential system, between the Executive President, the ruling Party, and the Legislature.
Ige boasts that in his home-town, Esa-Oke, in Osun State, not even one vote was cast for the PDP in the 1998/99 elections.

Allergic Diseases Resource Center: IgE in Clinical Allergy and Allergy Diagnosis
Atopy is a personal or familial tendency to produce IgE antibodies in response to low doses of allergens, usually proteins, and, as a consequence, to develop typical symptoms of asthma, rhinoconjunctivitis or allergic skin disease.
IgE antibodies in infant's serum to basic food proteins, e.g., hen's egg, may be predictive of the 'atopic march' (atopic dermatitis/atopic eczema followed by allergic rhinitis and/or asthma).
Prevention of IgE sensitization is possible in the occupational environment by the elimination of sensitizing agents from the workplace or implementing measures to prevent employee exposure.

HON Allergy Glossary Immunoglobulin E (IgE)
The antigen-specific IgE interacts with mast cells and eosinophils to protect the host against the invading parasite.
This class of immunoglobulins is distributed throughout the body, although cells synthesizing IgE are found predominantly in association with mucosal tissues.
If there is traffic of IgE cells it is less extensive than the IgG system - IgE is not found in breast milk, and only in very low amounts in other secretions such as saliva.

Immunoglobulin E - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although IgE is typically the least abundant isotype - blood serum IgE levels in a normal ("non-atopic") individual are ~150 ng/ml, compared to 10 mg/ml for the IgGs (the isotypes responsible for most of the classical adaptive immune response) - it is capable of triggering the most powerful immune reactions.
IgE may be an important target in treatments for allergy and asthma.
A new treatment, omalizumab, a monoclonal antibody, recognises IgE not bound to its receptor and is used to neutralise or mop-up existing IgE and prevent it from binding to cells.

IgE   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
IgE is found at a very low concentration in serum.
The primary function of IgE is to recognize antigen during an allergic reaction.
When mast cell (or basophil)-bound IgE encounters its antigen, the mast cell is stimulated to release granules containing histamine and other mediators involved in the allergic reaction.

Allergy & Asthma Disease Management Center: Ask the Expert: IgE
The hyper-immunoglobulin E (IgE) syndromes (HIES) are primary immunodeficiencies characterized by the clinical triad of recurrent staphylococcal abscesses, recurrent cyst-forming pneumonia, and an elevated serum IgE level of >2000 IU/ml.
The hyper IgE syndrome (HIES) is characterized by not only very high serum total IgE levels (generally much higher than seen in typical respiratory allergies) but also an eczematous rash, evidence of pronounced and recurrent Staph infections of the skin with abscesses and some times staph infections in other organs as well.
However, as shown clearly by Sampson's group (2), low levels of IgE antibodies to foods are frequently present in the absence of clinical reactivity to the foods involved, as determined by the double-blind, placebo-controlled food challenge test which have become the "gold standard" in the detection of food allergy.

IgE immunoglobulins have been demonstrated to be mediators in diseases of immediate type hypersensitivity - including allergic asthma, rhinitis, urticaria, and atopic dermatitis.
Serum IgE levels that are significantly higher than the age-adjusted, non-atopic reference ranges are considered abnormally elevated and are highly suggestive of atopic disorders, such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, and atopic dermatitis.
Extreme elevations in serum IgE are observed commonly in parasitic infections and hyperglobulinemia E syndrome.

IgE Antibodies are a type of immunoglobulin made by the body which are implicated in allergic reactions.

Quantitative determination of total serum IgE can be made rapidly and accurately by nephelometry, a technique that measures light scattered from a beam passed through a solution.

AAAAI - Patients & Consumers Center: Allergic Asthma Information: IgE and Its Role in Allergy and Allergic Asthma
Fifty years later, it was discovered that IgE in the blood was responsible for this transfer of the allergic response from an allergic person to someone who did not have allergies previously.
When an allergic individual is exposed to an allergen, IgE recognizes the foreign substance and binds it to a mast cell.
This binding of IgE and allergen to the mast cell triggers the mast cell to release inflammatory mediators, such as histamine, prostaglandins and leukotrienes which, in turn, cause symptoms such as bronchial constriction, coughing and wheezing.

Upon encountering an allergen, the IgE triggers the mast cell to release histamine and other mediators, leading in turn to the uncomfortable symptoms of an allergic response.
While researchers had long known that IgE played a role in allergy activation, the new research points to an equally important role played by the hitherto unknown rise and fall of in levels of IgE receptors on basophils and mast cells.
Moreover, the number of IgE receptors on basophils and mast cells increased from just a few thousand per cell to more than 200,000 per cell.

Frater Ige, in the course of his Rosicrucian affiliation, had the experiential knowledge that there is life after life, and that what man, out of ignorance, calls death on this plane of existence, is but a higher initiation, a transition of the soul personality from this plane to the mansions of the soul.
He was constant in his faith in the value of pluralistic and democratic system of governance that encouraged the decent and free contest of diverse viewpoints, a position which inevitably brought him into mortal conflict with totalitarianism.
People who do not value human life, who habitually engage in the orgy of blood letting as we have repeatedly observed in many of our cities since the birth of the fourth Republic, and whose youths are encouraged by the elders to terminate the life of their heroes are a people spiritually sick.

 Definition: Immunoglobulin (IgE)
Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a type of protein in the body called an antibody.
When a person is allergic to a particular substance, such as a food or dust, the immune system mistakenly believes that this usually harmless substance is actually harmful to the body.
In an attempt to protect the body, IgE is produced by the immune system to fight that particular substance.
