Ignacije Szentmartony (October 28, 1718 - April 15, 1793) was a Croatian Jesuit priest born in (Međimurje), into a family with a Croat mother and a Hungarian father.
Szentmartony remained as a missionary in the settlement of near Pará.
Ignacije Szentmartony younger, February 17, 1743, was educated in theology in Varaždin and Graz, lecturer in Varaždin and Zagreb where he wrote the first Croatian kajkavian grammar in the German language, Einleitung zur kroatischen Sprachlehre für Teutschen.

Summary: This study researches investigations of Croatian Jesuits in thefield of philosophy, mathematics and natural sciences from theend of 16th century till the beginning of 19thn century.
Amongnew results should be poinbted out: (1) philosophical andscientific terminology in Kašiæ's Croato-Italian dictionary; (2)"ludicra mathematica" of Ignjat Ðurðeviæ; (3) participation ofCroatian Jesuits in the scientific expeditions in the period1746-1755 (Konšæak, Boškoviæ, Szentmartony, Haller); (4)Boškoviæ's epigram on the heliocentric system; (5) reception ofBoškoviæ's philosophy in works of Antun Radiæ and Stjepan Bašiæ.
