Igor Liba is a former excellent Slovak ice hockey player.
Igor Liba was inducted into the Slovak Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005.
Igor Liba played for ZPA Prešov (1970–1978), HC Košice (1978-1982, 1984–1988, 1991–1992, 1997-1998 and 1998-1999) and HC Dukla Jihlava (1982–1984) in Czechoslovakia, after 1993 in Slovakia.

 1983 NHL Entry Draft -- Igor Liba
On Oct. 8, 1988, Minnesota suspended Liba indefinitely.
Liba and Pasek signed their first NHL contracts on May 27, 1988.
Liba, however, never played for the North Stars because Minnesota later traded Liba, Brian Lawton and Rick Bennett to N.Y. Rangers in exchange for Paul Jerrard, Mark Tinordi, Bret Barnett, Mike Sullivan and Los Angeles' 1989 third-round pick (Murray Garbutt) on October 11, 1988.

A new team from Martin (replacing the team from Spiska Nova Ves) are looking ambitious, but the question is, how well will players who are used to the First Division do at the highest level of Slovakian hockey?
