The municipal boundary of Iitate coincides closely with the watershed divide.
The sidewalks are narrow and the buildings are close to the road because as much of the flat valley land as possible is dedicated to agriculture (mainly rice paddy fields).
While it was not a record cold winter, both Iitate and Awano were cold and there was a small amount of snow on the ground.

Iitate Planetary Radio Telescope (IPRT) which measures meter to decimeter radio waves has been developed at the Iitate village in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.
Primary purpose of IPRT is continuous monitoring of Jovian synchrotron radiation (JSR) and research of the dynamics in the Jovian inner magnetosphere by detecting short-term variations of JSR with the time scale of a few days to a few months.

Those that do exist are designed to iitate a 4 door with a trunk i.e.

 My Time in Japan on the JET Programme
Today I headed out with some people from the archeological dig here in town to Soma to eat some crab delicacies and enjoy some good karaoke.
When we headed back to Iino, we stopped off in Iitate to eat some monjayaki and okonomiyaki, which were both pretty tasty.
It was pretty fun, even though some of their Japanese was totally unintelligible to me. ^_^
