  Gunma Prefecture Summary
Gunma is the northwestern-most prefecture of the Kanto, and is mostly mountainous in the north, with more of the population concentrated in the southern half facing Saitama Prefecture.
On February 20, 2006, the municipalities of Ikaho, Komochi and Onogami from Kitagunma District and the villages of Akagi and Kitatachibana from Seta District merged with the city of Shibukawa to create the new city of Shibukawa.
The city of Takasaki is scheduled to merge with the town of Haruna from Gunma District on October 1, 2006.

Ikaho used to be a seperate town but has lately incorporated itself with the larger city of Shibukawa.
Ikaho is famously known for it's multitude of onsen (spas) and that was one of the reasons I went there this past vacation.

Then TCC President Connie Kaneko and Canadian Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Neil Moody, a founding member and still active Tokyo Canadian, persuaded some hockey 'has-beens' to take up the invitation of the Gunma Seals Hockey Club's Masami Ueki and off we went to enjoy the soothing baths and the seething competition.
The hockey team then got down to brass tacks and despite falling behind while shorthanded, they were able to rally after Connie and Sasaki Manabu (the honorary Canadian) "explained" the rules to the referee.
Congratulations and commiserations were exchanged over the ceremonial luncheon after which all enjoyed some hard-earned sight-seeing before boarding the bus for the return leg.

And take a bus for Ikaho onsen of Kanetsu Koutsu at Shibukawa station, leave it at visitor-center-mae and change to the other bus for Takasaki of Gunma bus at visitor-center-mae, then leave it at Mizusawa-Kannon bus stop.
The bus between Ikaho to Takasaki is driven only 2 or 3 in a day.
Drive for Ikaho (west) and turn to left at the visitor center just before Ikaho town.
