	Ildjarn - Feral Black Metal
		The earliest works from Ildjarn, and Ildjarn-Nidhogg, the artist plus one valued collaborator, capture these micro-atmospheres with the breathless sense of unexpected insight that suggests these were concepts penned in sudden moments lost in the beauty of a forest, or in the quiet insensible seconds before sleep overcomes.
		Ildjarn confines the rampaging spontaneity of previous works into a release that resembles greatest success to date, Forest Poetry, in that these songs are almost deliberate sounding in refinements to musicianship, even in the art of making noise.
		While these are great to hear for the Ildjarn historian, their value on a daily listening basis is questionable, as their inclusion lengthens an abrasive listen already composed of 27 micro-songs, all poetic but some in an almost binary capacity, and forces the listener into a drone endurance test.

		Ildjarn reached its culminating point in 1996, releasing 3 albums which were for the most part recorded in the latter stages of 1995.
		In fact, in 1997, Ildjarn along with fellow ally Nidhogg were in the making of new ambient material in the vein of ‘Landscapes’ although this time giving way to a more professional result and with no improvisation at all put into the composition.
		Many of the old Ildjarn cds on NLP, including the ‘S/T’, ‘Det Frysende Nordariket’ and ‘Landscapes’, became available via Ildjarn himself, mainly due to a sudden demand for the old material and a need to get rid of the cds which were kept stacked in the NLP basement during many years.

	Ildjarn Reviews
		Although Ildjarn has been making music since the early days of fl metal most people have no idea who he is so why don't I give you a little background first.
		And so back in the early 90's Ildjarn, Samoth, Ihsahn, and Thorbjorn Akerhaugen had a band called 'Thou Shalt Suffer.' The music of this band was a mix of death metal and haunting keyboards, which was sort of similar to say Nocturnus.
		Ildjarn plays all the instruments on this recording and all other Ildjarn recordings, and guess what are good friend Ihsahn was kind enough to lend his vocals to these 5 songs here.

		Skien based Black Metal band ILDJARN, essentially a solo endeavour of THOU SHALT SUFFER bassist Ildjarn (Vidar Vaaer), sometimes benefit from the assistance of EMPEROR’s Samoth on their recordings.
		The band dates to 1992 with demos such as 'Ildjarn' in January 1993 with guest vocals from Ihsahn of EMPEROR, 'Norse' in March 1993, and February 1994's ‘Minnesjoerd’ preceding their first release the ‘Norse’ EP, a collection of all three sessions.
		As the band progressed, sometimes in collussion with NIDHOGG, experimentation came to the fore, as with the 'Svartfraad' release.
