Topic: Ilsensine

Ilsensine - Overlord of the Illithid Hegemony
Ilsensine is a spherical, pink brain ten feet wide with four constantly waving, 10-foot long tentacles that glow with a bright, yet sickeningly green light that is but a pale reflection of the psionic power that flows through them.
Ilsensine may instead opt to use such an individual emptied by placing a selection of memories and sufficient knowledge into it’s body to allow it to continue living, but enthralled to Ilsensine; whether it chooses to do this or not is largely dependent on it’s needs at the time.
Ilsensine may manifest any psionic power it wishes from any discipline or psionic class that is not incompatible with it’s alignment and manifests all powers at 65th level from a power point reserve of 993.

 Ilsensine

Ilsensine - Forgotten Realms Wiki - a Wikia wiki
Ilsensine is the patron deity of illithids, though not their creator.
Ilsensine is cold and calculating, using magic and its psionic strength in a merciless combination to manipulate events as it sees fit.
It uses its psionics to gather information as well, pulling it from the minds of all mortals within the Prime Material Plane and beyond.

 Stithid
Sages believe that the stithid is another spawn of Ilsensine, the mind flayer power that resides on the Outlands.
It is thought that Ilsensine wanted additional spies on the lower planes to learn more about the eternal Blood War, and sent minions to ply the waters of the Styx to gather information.
All of Ilsensine's aquatic creations soon forgot about their mission and even their master, and now roam the waters of the Styx without a purpose.

Ilsensine doesn't leave his Caverns of Thought, preferring to watch and wait from its immobile form in the center of the Caverns, but it does have agents it can send into the Outlands on its errands.
Ilsensine makes use of the neothelids to subjugate the distant ancestors of the Gith races on the world that would become Penumbra and then manipulates the neothelids to become the parasitic creatures that transform humanoids into illithids (thus creating the illithids).
Ilsensine is basically a giant hoover of secrets from across the multiverse, so I figured it would be a prime target.

 The River Styx
First of all, Ilsensine is the main deity worshipped by the mind flayers -- who're also called the illithid.
Ilsensine is an evil Power of mind-flaying, and the Styx is a foul river of memory stealing.
Besides, Ilsensine probably keeps it a well guarded secret, so a body'd have to be tough enough to resist his mind-draining influence until he could find the River; there are few bloods with that strength of will.

These are the eyes and ears of Ilsensine, and they attack living intruders on sight.
These are the “petitioners” of Ilsensine’s realm, lifeless husks who attack living beings and channel the god’s psionic powers (destroying the zombie immediately).
Ilsensine's rival, the god Maanzecorian, is going to be slain by some powerful being very soon.

 Beholder
Beholder communities in the Underdark often wage war on any and all nearby settlements, finding the most resistance from the drow and illithids.
Beholders worship their insane, controlling goddess known as the Great Mother, though some also, or instead, follow her rebel offspring, Gzemnid, the beholder god of gases, who is allied with the illithid god Ilsensine.
Beholders are especially prominent in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, where they infiltrate and seek to control many sectors of society—many beholders are allied to the Zhentarim, some work with the Red Wizards of Thay, and a particularly powerful beholder, known as "The Eye" or "Xanathar" controls Skullport's influential Xanathar's Thieves Guild.
