Ilwrath - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Ilwrath transported thousands of portable alters and millions of blood gowns and fillet knives to Earth, but were disappointed when the Ur-Quan commanded that the humans be left alive.
Even though the Ilwrath fleet is much larger than the Thraddash fleet, the Thraddash ships probably used their afterburners in battle to create rings of fire, a technique that would make them more effective in battle than the Ilwrath.
The Ilwrath as a whole consider themselves to be evil, believing their gods would never reward a species that wasn't evil with their baleful grace.

 Ilwrath - Ultronomicon
The Ilwrath worship their twin dark gods, Dogar and Kazon, supposedly speak through the HyperWave Channel 44, which coincidentally is the channel the Umgah love to send their prank messages on.
The Ilwrath are Battle Thralls of the Ur-Quan Hierarchy.
The Ilwrath lose two Avengers for every one Thraddash Torch that they destroy, but since their fleet is roughly twice the size of the Thraddash fleet, this battle could lead to the mutual destruction of both fleets unless The Captain ends the Second War before they annihilate one another.

The Ilwrath (Ship: Avenger) - Before the arrival of the Ur-Quan, these violent, religious insectoids were of little consequence to their neighbors, the Chenjesu and the Mmrnmhrm, because they possessed little in the way of advanced technology or raw resources.
Now, with modern weapons and drive systems, the Ilwrath revel in their opportunities to deceive and destroy other forms of life, as is required by their twin gods of evil, Dogar and Kazon.
The Ilwrath ships are only moderately powerful because they are not very fast, and their weapon is only effective at short range.

The Ilwrath were a hostile but weak race living in the Tauri constellation.
The Ilwrath were conquered fairly quickly in 2107 and were delighted when the Ur-Quan offered them powerful hyperspace-capable ships.
Soon the Ilwrath were appeasing their dark gods by destroying enemy ships in combat and torturing POWs to death.

Because the Ilwrath were once (they believe) deeply loving and spiritual beings because when the obtained spiritual perfection they went a little further than thought possible and somehow something perverted them to become evil.
There are some speculations that for the same reason the Androsynth disappeared by researching in IDF, the Ilwrath were perverted, but since there is no evidence of any mishappenings of that kind happening to the Androsynth or the Ilwrath it is assumed false.
The Ilwrath didn't stop attacking them until about 10 years after they started when 'The Captain' had a powerful HyperWave broadcaster and trick the Ilwrath into attacking the Thraddash.

Where a single use of a weapon projects more than one beam or missile, it is assumed that all projectiles strike the target; (an exception to this is the Chenjesu crystal bomb fragment, as it is unlikely in the extreme that all 8 fragments from one crystal bomb will strike a single target).
o Launched projectiles (beams, fields and the Ilwrath flame bursts excluded) will always move at a fixed speed through gravity-free space; their speed will not be added to or subtracted from that of the launching ship.

This Jihad was of course instigated by the Umgah, a race of bloblike practical jokers.
We Pkunk began trading with the Ilwrath, and they seemed to be open to new ideas.
The Greatest Ilwrath during this time of Enlightement and Good Feelings, was their Leader "Dorzar III." He was a Wise, and Open-Minded individual, who we were proud to call "Friend." He opened up trading between our races, and embraced all new forms of music from our archives.

The Ilwrath VUX and Mycon remain incontrovertibly hostile, though now the Ur Quan have been driven off, they are no longer helping the Ur Quan, and are instead remaining within their own spheres, except for the Ilwrath, who are operating slightly nearby the conflict busily mopping up the remaining Thraddash.
They show what they have done to the Druuge homeworld, and then the Ilwrath accept; however, the VUX refuse and start an exodus from their world (a fleet with part of the VUX population leaves the planet and flees into hyperspace, as their world is destroyed).
The Ilwrath, somewhat surprisingly, seem to have accepted this supplication at the direct commands of their deities on Channel 44, and the player may occassionally find robe wearing hostile Thraddash ships manned by these "priests".

When the Ilwrath began tuning in to 'the voices of their gods' on their hyperwave receivers their priest caste was understandably skeptical and counselled their many followers to ignore the blasphemous signals.
However, in a surprise move, the majority of the Ilwrath then rose up and slaughtered the entire priest caste.
Their reasons included over-taxation, lack of 'quality death in ceremony' and the general feeling that the priests had made Dogar and Kazon's announcements overly complex.

The Ilwrath contingent were supposed to be the toughest ridge-crest, er the most rigid flipper, no ah yes - the BACKBONE of the Earthguard force; but they departed the system en masse not long after the last Ur-Quan Dreadnought vanished from this region of space.
They claimed to have received a direct order from their Gods of Evil and Darkness, who had grown dissatisfied with the Ilwraths' passivity and wanted them to kill or at least torture someone soon.
As yet, the Ultimate Evil remains largely unmanifest, and its powers and exact intentions are still a bit obscure since it lurks just outside the range of even the most sensitive, long-range detectors which we feel gives conclusive evidence as to The Ultimate Evil's nefarious intent.

Such range was easily achieved, despite the ship’s slow speed, because the cloaking device allowed the ship to travel undetected in Truespace.

The Ilwrath are supposed to be an evil torturesome race who think of nothing but torturing other species as sacrifices to their vile gods of death and destruction, but W.T Quick has them as these stupid toy soldiers, acting like something from the movie small soldiers.
However, I found the Ilwrath just plain silly, and the Mycon servant isn't even supposed to be sentient.
The book is quite readable, but for anyone who has never played the star control series, I would say it would be quite impossible to know what is going on.

Of the ships I have, the one I least value is my Ilwrath Avenger.
Unfortunately, it is slow and ungainly (being large is being an easy target), with severely limited range, and the cloaking device is not that useful in a system that orients the screen in relation to both players.
Standard procedure for an Ilwrath is to only uncloak when the enemy is in range and is going to take the full brunt of your battery.
