 Imagine (album)
Imagine is John Lennon's second solo album and generally considered the most popular of his solo works.
Recorded and released in 1971, Lennon noted the commercial success of Imagine but pointed out that the content of the album was similar to that of his provocative and challenging 1970 angst-rock release John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band.
In 2000, Yoko Ono supervised the remixing of Imagine for its remastered reissue.

 The Truest $#!@ I Ever Said - C-Murder, Music Downloads - Online
Review: It's the "album the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center didn't want you to hear!" from an incarcerated rapper who gets more dissings than he does praise, but C-Murder's Truest $ is compelling for the most part and a major display of the rapper's growth as -- hold on to something -- an artist.
Friends are all suspect on the album, which begs the question why the rapper's brother, Master P, is so absent.
The album's most aboveground moment is the redo of Akon's "Locked Up," with the singer/producer himself at the controls for "Won't Let Me Out." It's a success, as are the usual sparse beats and cheap synth numbers, which are rawer than ever.

Imagine is home to his most well known composition, the song that represents not only his entire output but also the cosmic sphere of that strange and elusive force known universally as peace.
Imagine was produced by John Lennon and 'wall of sound' master, Phil Spector.
While there may be reservations of some due to the album not having been created from the original mix, you can rest assured that Mobile Fidelity have used first generation mixes off the multi-tracks supplied by Yoko Ono to create a new first generation master.

Anyone familiar with the title track of this album will be pleased to know that the nine other tracks are of just the same quality, if not better.
The album shows Lennon's natural ability to create songs of varying styles that live up to the reputation he has been given.
Although the album can be given a great rating for the various tracks, this album is not the best I have seen from Lennon.

I imagined that if this song were made for a Native American of a time long ago, his or her name would be something like Running-Wind.
The songs on this album were composed between 2000 and 2004 using various combinations of the Roland XP-80, Roland XV-5080, Roland Fantom-X8, and Roland V-Synth (yes, after my positive experience with the XP-80, I decided I like Roland's hardware).
The music, like that from the Nathan Sheldon album, is inspired mostly from a combination of different emotions from curiosity and exploration to introspection and contemplation.

John Lennon wrote "Imagine," his greatest musical gift to the world, one morning early in 1971 in his bedroom at Ascot, his estate in Tittenhurst, England.
In one of his last interviews, he declared "Imagine" to be as good as anything he had written with the Beatles.
It is now impossible to imagine a world without "Imagine." And we need it, more than he ever dreamed.

Bagism: Albums & Singles: Reviews: Imagine
Imagine alone with the rest being filler songs could earn this album a 3.5 (that song just simply cant get old, and I hear and feel something new each time) but this is simply not the case..
The Imagine album is a far more commercial version of Plastic Ono Band (hence the orchestra and strings backing) and so fails to be as powerful as its predecessor, but it remains a good album and is probably a great album for those who like their music to be a bit more catchy.
(Not on the Imagine album) It proves that the stereotype of John being the rocker of the Beatles, and Paul being the soppy one is wrong.

Nonetheless, Imagine came across as a sunnier album as a whole; it definitely had some harsh moments, but they didn’t dominate the proceedings as they had with POB.
“Imagine” has become a verified classic and may well be the most-played of all solo Beatle tunes.
This may sound like sacrilege, but honestly, “Imagine” never did a lot for me. It’s a nice tune, and I appreciate the message, but it’s not the best track on the album.

Happily, the album concludes with another lovely solo standard, "Danny Boy." The recording quality varies noticeably from track to track, and there are a few awkward fade-outs--presumably to remove audience noise--but still the sparkling music comes across quite vividly.
Imagine may not be the best way to discover Eva Cassidy for the first time, but established fans will warmly welcome this new collection.
She shunned the spotlight till it was nearly too late, or preferred to sing backup vocals or duets as she did on Chuck Brown's wonderful album 'The Other Side', released in 1995, which although is a Brown album, it is the wonderful voice of Eva Cassidy that grabs your attention.

Of his three solos on this album, the first is the slide guitar on 'Crippled Inside' not only instantly recognisable to afficionados as being the work of Mr Harrison but is also wonderful to hear.
This album is just fine as it is and I sometimes think that the odd added extra, detracts from the original album.Seeing as this was released in 1971, Power To The People would have been favourite to be tagged on the end and that would have added nothing to this masterpeice.

John Lennon : Imagine - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
While the album had a softer surface, it was only marginally less confessional than its predecessor.
Underneath the sweet strings of "Jealous Guy" lies a broken and scared man, the jaunty "Crippled Inside" is a mocking assault at an acquaintance, and "Imagine" is a paean for peace in a world with no gods, possessions, or classes, where everyone is equal.
If Imagine doesn't have the thematic sweep of Plastic Ono Band, it is nevertheless a remarkable collection of songs that Lennon would never be able to better again.
