IMBREX (Latin for "tile"), in architecture the term given to the covering tile of the ancient roof: the plain tile is turned up on each side and the imbrex covers the joint.
In the simpler type of roof the imbrex is semicircular, but in some of the Greek temples it has vertical sides and an angular top.
In the temple of Apollo at Bassae, where the tiles were in Parian marble, the imbrex on one side of the tile and the tile were worked in one piece out of the solid marble.
IMBREX (Latin for " tile "), in architecture the term given to the covering tile of the ancient roof: the plain tile is turned up on each side and the imbrex covers the joint.
Imber is simply "a shower or storm of rain; rain water." An imbrex is "a semi-cylindrical tile, placed over the joints between the roof-tiles." Roof tiles are tegulae, derived from the root tego, which means to "cover" or "roof over." The fourth principle part of the verb tego is tectus.
A pantile, as the Britannica says, combines the tegula and imbrex, so that it is a "double-curved" roof tile, linking the tile to the next one and creating a funnel or groove for the rain water to wash down the roof.
The concave-shaped tile is the tegula and the convex-shaped tile, holding together the two tegulae, is the imbrex.
In Britain the first clay plain tiles, said to be copies of wooden shingles, were made by the Romans.
The tapered shape of their tegula and imbrextiles (often referred to today as "over-and-under" tiles) was said to be originally achieved by forming the raw clay over a thigh.
Clay tiles are available in a wide range of colours and sizes, though tend to be fairly small and flat.

(Imbrex whispers to Theophrastus good thing he's got such skill with a blade) Dreamheart smirks.
Joy smiles mischieviously at Imbrex, whispering "Well, you'll notice how many healers there are here today." Gabriel smiles faintly.
Gabriel says, "I have to go as well" Imbrex asks, "perhaps there it would be drier in the pavilion?" Aleysian beams at Dreamheart!
Data told me that apparently Bartok Imbrex proposed to Lillith, but Helibore (I very much doubt Lillith was involved in the decision) chose Sawall as we offered them more.
If Bartok married Lillith instead, Imbrex would have enjoyed that protection, and thus they had to be stopped.
I was more than a little surprised when Bartok Imbrex showed up at the Hospice to personally try and dissuade me from marrying Lillith.

Not far from the Archaeological Museum in the center of the new residential area stand the renovated foundations of a Roman atrium house, which illustrate the high housing standards of the time.
It used to be a single-story house built of stone and covered with terracotta roof-tiles - tegula and imbrex.
The Roman invention in building construction was the use of mortar as cement.
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
L. imbrex, a gutter-tile, from imber, a shower, which is probably a compound, of which the last syllable is from whence.
A mass of earth, chiefly clay, first moistened and made fine by grinding or treading, then formed into a long square in a mold, dried and baked or burnt in a kiln; used in buildings and walls.
I am trying to establish a career in the video game industry and I don't think that an unusual/creative name would impede my progress in the field like it might if I was in a more conservative line of work.
My social circle consists mainly of co-workers or locals that I met online, all of whom are already familiar with the name.
As for future contacts, I could see myself using the name Imbrex, even if they weren't in the industry or active in online communities.
One single image is a gigabyte in size (it fills a Jaz disk).
I use image processing and Boolean algebra to make the FRACTILES, then assemble them using some really complex but elegant trigonometry to make my IMBREX.
I map colors into different color spaces (e.g., RGB, CMYK, CIE, YUV, YIQ) and fuse them in layers to create the finished works.
