Imfundo is continuing the work initiated in phase one in the Gambia and Rwanda, which are both teacher training initiatives, and are embarking on a further teacher training initiative currently being scoped in Ghana.
By involving local partners in Imfundo's activities, the potential to develop educational ICT skills and capacity on the ground in Africa is increased, and thereby to contribute to enhanced local livelihoods and economic growth.
Imfundo's unique contribution has become the way in which it combines the skills and contributions of a wide range of different partners to help African governments achieve the international development targets of gender equality and universal primary education.

Through its KnowledgeBank, Imfundo is supporting innovative research into the contribution of satellite technology to education in Africa, gender issues in the use of computers for education, and evaluating educational software in the African context.
Imfundo is also working to identify the best ways in which ICT can support special educational needs, street children and refugees.

Imfundo is assisting the Ghana Education Service/ Teacher Education Divison to look at ways in which ICT can strengthen its teacher education support systems by capacity building and improved communication structures.
Imfundo is supporting the Kenyan Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in the design and development of a component of the ‘School Based Teacher Development Programme’ called the School Empowerment Programme.
Imfundo assists DFID in South Africa in the development of a seven year programme on education support for the Limpopo province.

A study was recently commissioned by DFID's Imfundo initiative in response to increasing requests from African educators to assist them in identifying suitable training materials to develop basic information and communications technology (ICT) skills.
Imfundo evaluated 15 ICT programs from around the world and have rated Learningfast's ICT Skills Benchmark as number 1.

During the second part of 2001, the UK development agency, IMFUNDO commissioned a report written by Mathy Vanbuel entitled "Improving Access to Education via Satellites in Africa: A Primer".
It was commissioned by Imfundo as part of their mandate to use ICT in support of Educational Development and specifically as a contribution to Imfundo's Knowledge Bank.
To this end, Mathy Vanbuel was appointed to work as an ICT consultant in Ghana and is working with Imfundo and the other members of the consultancy team on the overall implementation of a suitable strategy.
