Imperial units were eliminated from all road signs, although both systems of measurement will still be found on privately-owned signs (such as the height warnings at the entrance of a multi-storey parking facility).

In the end, the most important lesson to be learned is that Americans should not view imperialism as automatically negative in all its forms.

Somewhere between the blues-jazz of Lonnie Johnson and Charlie Christian and the electrified blues of B.B. King, Chuck Berry, and Buddy Guy is Aaron "T-Bone" Walker, the man who fused influences of the past and reshaped them into modern guitar blues.
A master showman as well as a brilliant guitarist and singer, Walker is a performer whose influence cannot be underestimated: nearly every blues guitarist of the past half-century has paid props to the man. His best-known song, "Stormy Monday," is a staple of every bar band's repertoire.
Although nominally versed in blues, Walker often sought the accompaniment of jazz musicians who allowed free rein for the guitarist's fluid style.

 Fats Domino
In New Orleans in the 1940s it was possible for a musician to make a living without ever venturing far outside the region, and Domino appeared to be another in the long lineage of Crescent City local stars as he packed crowds in night after night at the Hideaway Club until fate eventually intervened.
He and Chudd worked out an agreement for Bartholomew to scout talent and produce records for Imperial in his native New Orleans and when Chudd arrived a few weeks later Bartholomew brought him to the Hideaway Club to see the increasingly popular local draw Domino, who was signed almost immediately.
In 1962 however his Imperial contract expired and he was offered an enormous amount to sign with ABC-Paramount Records, a company still looking to make a dent in rock 'n' roll.

Amazon.com: The Complete Imperial Recordings: 1950-1954: Music: T-Bone Walker   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
A founding father of electric blues in general and Texas blues in particular, guitarist T-Bone Walker influenced countless blues players and, by extension, countless rock & rollers as well.
The Complete Imperial Recordings date from the early to mid-1950s, when the idea of electric blues was really taking hold, and the two-disc set is a wealth of classic songs exquisitely performed.
While definitely blues, there's more difference between this and the acoustic blues that predated Walker than amplification can account for; there's jazz and swing mixed in as well, as on tracks like "I Walked Away" and "Strollin' with Bone," and something of that feel has remained in electric blues ever since.

Following closely in the footsteps of the recent debut of his 12 piece* (plus guests) Blues Orchestra (now renamed The Blues Imperials), at The Boom Boom Club, Sutton, Ian Ellis brought a stripped down 6 piece to the Torrington to fill in for a last minute cancellation.
Ian added a nice biographical touch during a mid set blues work out, explaining to the crowd that both he and founder member of Savoy Brown had both been in the band at different times, but still ended up playing the same song.
Given the short notice nature of the gig, there was little room for other than tried and tested R&b/blues covers, but it was the sheer power, enthusiasm and superb playing that the Blues Imperial brought down to bear on their set that made this a special evening.
