Eric Meyer - Resources for Actors - Character Analysis
The rear improvisor should stay present, listen carefully to the front improvisor and then add physical offers of their own.
Respect your fellow improvisors: the scene is over when the first person leaves, but the scene must still be played together.
The onstage improvisors have the option of simply moving their lips, speaking in gibberish or (if you have the option) actually conducting the scene in a language other than English.

 Joe Hemphill: Expanding Possibilities
For example, I shared with The Improvisor that I have always wanted to be able to read articles in newspapers and books, but because of my factors associated with by disability I was not able to fully access printed text.
After hearing this, The Improvisor developed a program that enabled my computer to read things to me. Since then, I have become a voracious reader of local and national newspapers on-line, expanding my interest and knowledge of national politics, world events, and many other critical issues.
When The Improvisor realized that it was really in my best interest to change my computer's operating system from DOS to Windows, he allowed me the opportunity to find this out for myself by giving me the capability to boot up my computer in either system.

Jazz improvisation is a calculated cause and effect relationship between an improvisor and the audience.
The improvisor's concern is for the audience, not the time feel of the rhythm section.
Because Jazz Improvisors are truly story tellers, they are relating a story and communicating it to an audience with the desire to affect the listeners emotionally.

 Utah Improv - Columns
When an improvisor shows trust in the choices made, the audience will automatically assume brilliance in the choice.
It is the acceptance of those ideas by all improvisors on stage through listening, and trust, and the interweaving into what has been established that makes these ideas brilliant.
It makes sense then, that the people you know the best off stage, the folks you hang out with, the improvisors you have played with countless times before are the ones that you place the most trust in.

What to call one who improvises - Jazzcorner's Speakeasy
Even if both were deemed to be correct, surely it would be sensible to establish an editorial policy on the preferred spelling.
I await accusations of having nothing better to do, but I think it is about time that the spelling 'improvisor' is either justified with etymological evidence I may have missed, or erased altogether.
However, "improvisor" is probably felt by some to be a cool spelling precisely because it looks American and modern...

Supported by the latest neurological research on how the brain functions, Robert Jourdain makes a convincing case for the idea that humans are "hard-wired" for music from birth, that the source of all music stems from the way we all are physiologically constructed.
The improvisor, however, endeavors to disguise the form by playing through the form's resolution points at the end of each section and chorus, thereby superimposing other forms over the set form.
To be completely understood, the process of jazz improvising must be considered from both the point of view of the individual improvisor as well as the improvisor as part a group event.
