In April and May one or more stems, up to 15 cm high, grow out of this rosette, and 1 to 5 pale rose to purple infundibular blossoms open.
This flower became known to science in 1835 owing to the renowned explorer of the Balkans, the Hungarian Imre Frivaldszky.

The separate Mollusca Collection based on the material donated by or purchased from Prince Josef, Emil Korniss, Imre Frivaldszky, Gyula Hazay or Károly Brancsik.
First head of the separate Mollusca Collection was Lajos Soós, who worked in the museum from 1903 to 1935 (as a pensioner to 1964).
After the destruction of the collection in 1956, rebuilding the new collection is due to Pál Agócsy [1957–75] and László Pintér [1975–98] as heads of collection, Anna Szigethy [1970–86], Imre Fürjes [1980–87] and Éva Kiss [1978–79] as assistants and László Drimmer [1992–2003] as volunteer assistant.
