  Epistemological Problems of Memory
Yet it is not at all clear that the conditions necessary and sufficient for justifiably coming to believing a proposition are necessary and sufficient for justifiably maintaining it.
Memory demands (a) an image, (b) a belief in the past existence…The believing is a specific feeling or sensation or complex of sensations, different from expectation or bare assent in a way that makes the belief refer to the past; the reference to the past lies in the belief-feeling, not in the content believed.
Yet so long as the image is causally connected with his past experience in the right way, the painter will be remembering the horse even though he doesn't believe that there was such a horse in such a meadow.

 Memory Loss & the Brain
A pioneering researcher in the field of human memory at the University of California, Irvine, McGaugh and his colleagues study the links between emotion, stress hormones, and the brain.
The people who viewed the emotionally arousing story had significantly stronger memories for the emotional parts of the story and were therefore able to recall more specific details from the story.
Each time, the brain’s emotional memory system kicks in and strengthens the memory until it is virtually branded on the person’s consciousness.

Before Asimov finally sat down and wrote his autobiographies, "In Memories Yet Green", and, "In Joy Still Felt", he skirted the job by producing three volumes of his stories bracketed with biographical information.
I don't think Asimov had yet formulated the idea of literary biography so the additional information is a dry and to the point.
The biographical bits are straightforward and factual rather than entertaining, and some of these early stories have some painfully awkward passages, but it's a great glimpse at how the writer was formed.
