King Crimson: In The Wake Of Poseidon - An Analysis by Andrew Keeling
Jon Green has suggested that the essential task of 'In the Wake of Poseidon' is that of finding an equilibrium between logic and emotion of Logos and Eros and, with reference to the Temperence card of the Tarot, to reconcile these opposing forces (http://www.songsouponsea.com/Promenade/Poseidon2.html).
Peter Sinfield and Robert Fripp, in the structure of 'In the Wake of Poseidon', have a similar artistic mission: to reclaim Eros (the feminine principle) at the very end as 'Peace: An End' (of Peace III as I have referred to it elsewhere).
Jon Green has suggested that the name of Poseidon's son, Triton, is close to the name of the main interval of the piece, the tritone, (http://www.songsouponsea.com/Promenade/Poseidon.html) and that Triton was Poseidon's trumpeter which Poseidon commanded him to blow to still the raging seas.

King Crimson - Satan Stole My Teddybear
The second album in King Crimson's ever extending discography, In the Wake of Poseidon represents a refinement and advancement of the "symphonic" sound found on their debut In the Court of the Crimson King.
Whether it's the jazzy rhythmic intensity and sax braying of "Pictures of a City" or the sonorous and bittersweet "In the Wake of Poseidon", the music possesses an immense scope.
While not as inventive or as original as later King Crimson works, In the Wake of Poseidon certainly stands the test of time, and is fundamentally important in the overall development of King Crimson's sound and prog rock in general.

In the Wake of Poseidon (1970) is the second album by the progressive rock group King Crimson.
By the time this album was released, the band had already undergone their first change in lineup, however they still maintained much of the style of their first album, In the Court of the Crimson King.

KING CRIMSON In the Wake of Poseidon reviews and MP3
What keeps In The Wake of Poseidon from being a complete failure is Robert Fripp and Mel Collins, who were pretty much holding the band together for most of this era this era (despite extremely talented pianist Keith Tippett still present, as well as the impressive Giles brothers rythm section).
In The Wake Of Poseidon would mark the end of this part of King Crimson as Fripp took the band, or the new variation of the band, in a new direction which would only partly follow the adventures contained within the album in hand.
In the Wake of Poseidon is one of the most charismatic albums in all my own discography and I personally don't care if it's too similar to the previous miliar stone In the Court of the Crimson King.

It was on this album, I think, that King Crimson managed to pull together the instrumental prowess and melodic nature of the album In The Wake Of Poseidon with the artiness of the album Lizard to produce a work that all KC fans could adore.
